This morning at 5:30 the phone rang.

My wife got it and handed it to me. She said, "Its your sister."

So I say, "hey?"

My sister replied, "Everything is ok, but I need you to bring me to the hospital" and then began to cry hysterically.

Well thank god she told me everything was ok... um... So it turns out that she slept odd and her arm popped out of the shoulder socket.

So I brought her to the hospital and it turns out that whatever she did could not be fixed by just quickly readjusting her arm. She had to be knocked out and they had to keep her for a few hours.

So now she is back over my place and I am missing work, she is resting up getting better, though she will probably need physical therapy to be all set.

No real moral to this story or point. Its just my day so far.

P.S. Who dislocates their shoulder while they sleep anyways? WTF?

I popped my knee out of socket getting into bed multiple times. I've also done it getting on and off the school bus too. But that's because I'm Marfan like.

Personally, I was up all night with horrible pains that were either bad gas or bad indigestion, started around midnight and wouldn't let me sleep until 5. Not quite as exciting as your night, but I kept hoping it was just something stupid that would go away and I wouldn't have to drive to the ER in the middle of the night. Though I can tell you that the only sleep better than sleep you get after doing physical, exhausting work all day is the sleep you get after finally feeling good enough to be able to fall asleep after being sick.

I'm a frigidity sleeper, so I've woken up with my head pressed up against the wall and my spine all twisted up. I've pinched a nerve in my back on a few occasions. What happened to your sister is just plain weird though. . Hope she's gets better, and at least you got the day off now.

I sometimes sleep on my arm and wake up in agonizing pain because it's gone completely dead, but other than that, can't say I've ever heard of anything like that Confused

I hate it when my arm goes numb, and when I wake up I can't find it. This mostly happens when I want to roll over and can't because of the dead weight. I'll be groping around with my other arm unsuccessfully until I decide to start at my shoulder and work my way down, finally discovering my limp limb hanging off the side of the bed or something.

I bet you often grab for limp, useless appendages in the middle of the night.

Also, I've never heard of someone dislocating a shoulder sleeping on it. Does she have a history of shoulder problems?

I love when my arm dies, most awkward feeling ever. I woke up this morning and smashed my head into the wall trying to move farth up in my bed cause I could feel my feet hangin off the end. Hurt like hell...

When I woke up one day, both my left arm and my left foot were completely dead.

Amazing feeling when they come back to life at the same moment. You're painfully aware of every nerve, every muscle and every artery contained therein. You're in pain for a fraction of second, but it's the most excruciating pain one can imagine.

Fun times.

I once must hav manged to cross my arms and then turn over on my stomach and slept on them. Since, one morning, I woke up and both arms were dead. That was a funny/scary/weird expirence.

When my arm goes numb from sleeping on it I'm always afraid I'll roll over it and somehow break my fingers. Confused

I've awoken to find that I can't move my neck because I slept wrong, but nothing that drastic.
