I've been thrown into the deep end of the pool.

I know very little when it comes to hosting websites. I've noticed quite a number of people on this board have their own (not mentioning the king of the board).

What sites would you recommend?
What would be a good price? What would be considered high? What is a ripoff?
What host do you use?

Anything at all would be helpful.

Thanks Smile

I use www.dot5hosting.com

I'm paying $60 for a years worth of service, and all in all it's pretty good. One of my e-mail accounts died, and there were two days where my site stats didn't get recorded, but other than that downtime is virtually nil.

To be honest Dreamhost is the best I have seen by far. only $99 a year people. I mean if I had a webspace I could make like thousands of dollars of supporters and run various webapages off dreamhost. Even the $247 don't sound so bad.

I would go with dreamhost since they are really cheap right now unless you could get a better deal.

I use Dreamhost.

When I signed up, they had a deal where it was $7.77 (with free domain registration) for the first year in honor of their 7th anniversary.

Now I pay something about$120/year for hosting and domain registration renewal. They are also very good about increasing server space. I forget exactly how much server space I was originally given to work with, but since I signed up, they have doubled everyone's server space twice. My disk space is also increased every week, currently at a rate of 160 MB/week. I also get a good chunk of bandwith.

My current bandwith allowance is 1207 GB BW per Cycle (Grows 8 GB / week)

Each cycle is a month.

Needless to say, I am quite happy with them.

Thanks for the input already.

Has anyone heard anything about Blue Host? (http://www.bluehost.com/)
