So I'm playing Secret of Mana again on my SNES, I forgot what dropped what rare orbs so I looked on Gamefaqs to see. I for some reason checked the Secrets/Cheats, to my surprise there was something other then the Soft Reset listed.

The 9th orb for the Sword, basically gives you a permanent Mana Sword. I read the "How to". To make it brief, you have to land on an island save it, then soft reset it. Then start a new game. Once you start the new game, get to the first boss, once the guy says "You have a sword, so use it!" Thats your cue to soft reset the game again, BUT THIS TIME you have to hold it for 5 seconds or else it won't work. Now when you reload the game you saved on the island your characters are at the first boss with all their stuff. Kill the boss get the orb, use Flammie and leave.

I tried both ways and you absolutely have to hold it for 5 seconds. HOW IN THE FUCK DO PEOPLE FIGURE THIS OUT???!!!

Who the hell just sits there and is like "Well if I land on this random island soft reset it and start a new game maybe I can get an extra orb by starting a new game."
There is a lot of stuff like that, just curious how these people come up with that shit.

That goes without saying...they must have very imaginative minds.

yeah... pretty ridiculous I wont lie.

I remember reading old nintendo magazines where they would unlock things by quickly switching one cartridge in for the other.

I broke Genesis cartrdidges cause i thought the Strider/Altered Beast trick had to be slammed.

Side note: Secret of Mana is no fun 3 player. It gets extremely slow.

I always wondered how someone figured out the "Konami Code" or codes that involved pressing a shitload of buttons.

Bringing up Metallica in a heavy metal discussion is like bringing up Yoko Ono in a Beatles discussion.

They knew a programmer, or the programmer themselves would tip off the game magizines.
