And now for a month of specials for the president who wasn't elected.

R.I.P. Ford - the first president I did a report on.

Well, as legend goes, Syd killed Hunter S. Thompson. At least you're in good company. Cool

Yup, it's been pretty much reported everywhere.

Goodnight, funnyman.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Say what you want about me, but I just can't take joy in the death of someone, regardless of what they may have done. I think it would have served better to have him imprisoned until he died. He would have lived a segregated, tortured imprisonment for 10, 20 or even 30 years.

But, I'm not about to start a debate about capital punishment.

In most cases I would agree with you Tish. It's sad when we have to take a life in order to protect other lives. But in this case, it's healthy for the Iraqi people to have closure in this way. It certainly will not solve the situation over there, but I still think it's a good thing.

Also, long live Yakov Smirnoff. That gave me a good laugh Spanky.

Hi Cattivo... I disagree with what you said. Closure doesn't come from killing. Closure results from acceptance, and you don't need to kill to accept what has happened. People, especially the victims of crime, seem to think that "catching the person" or making sure the person "goes away for good" will bring closure. They are mostly wrong. Even those who's perpetrators aren't caught will have closure through the acceptance of the event.
A large number of people actually find closure through forgiveness.

I don't want to go all psychologist, so I'll stop now.

I take joy in Saddam's death. I'm of the belief that one less bad guy on the face of the planet can't be a bad thing.

As far as closure goes, theres a bunch of Kurds in the north and Iraqi-Americans in Dearborn which seem to gain serious closure from it.

/opposite end of the hang Saddam spectrum it seems

I have nothing against Jimmy Carter, it's just an age joke.

Carter is probably the best ex-president ever. His presidency was rather marginal, but he's done all sorts of amazing stuff since he left office. Habitats for Humanity in particular is a fantastic venture.

I think that not only should they hang him, they should parade his body through the streets. I agree with Kubo.

So, I tried not to open the "what's your opinion of killing bad people?" can of worms... it didn't work! Shocked blasted.

I'm all for a Mussolini-like spectacle. Let's string him up upside-down and pelt his corpse with rotten tomatoes. I'm sure the Shi-ites and the Kurds will have the time of a lifetime.
