For instance, how awesome would it have been to first know Luke Skywalker not as a wide-eyed farm boy, but as a lone badass fending his way through the Tatooinian wilderness with his wits and a blaster?

That's awesome. The little relevance to the topic is amazingly fitting.

Look, guys, I was just wondering if anyone else thought it would be awesome to see the stuff from the SNES games in the movies. I mean, it's not like I did anything dishonorable, like claiming to have fucked any of your mothers.

I think it's an interesting point. It could probably be developed into a popular flash and/or live action series: What If Movies Were Exactly Like The Games Based On Them?

I honestly enjoy the SNES games more than the movies now that I'm older. So challenging and rewarding.

Then every movie ever would suck. Except Super Mario Bros.

I simply felt disturbed watching it. It's like they gave the script to David Lynch and told him to make a Super Mario Bros movie.

I'd love to play a Mario platformer based on the SMB movie that uses the old Mortal Kombat motion capture technology. That'd be amazing.

The fact that you don't like it only proves it's good.

Honestly, watching the Dark Knight in regards to Batman is pretty much how I felt in regards to watching the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Personally, I think everyone was just upset Bowser was played by Dennis Hopper rather than some CGI dragon turtle.

Dennis Hopper was awesome. The rest of it was crap: Luigi as the hero, Daisy instead of Peach, no turtle henchmen, tiny Bob-Ombs, a crappy Yoshi... The list goes on.
