I know we already have a thread for pranking the player with odd things, but here's a thread for weird things happening by an accident in the coding. (Go ahead and put bugs in here too)
Some of the ones I know about:
Beat A Link to the Past in about 5 minutes:
Or the Airman glitch in Mega Man 2:
And of course, the famous MissingNo. trick:

hmm i never knew about that link one. the only one i can think of was the original NES Batman game. level 3 boss, if you wall jumped over him in a certain way, he would get stuck just throwing his blade or whatever it was towards the wall, so you can just get behind him and punch away.

In Sonic Adventure 2: Battle I remember once I fell down a pit and just fell forever. I dunno what that was about.
Also in Super Smash Brothers for N64 you can take Mario to the Mario stage, roll against a pipe a few times and he becomes a giant.

I remember using the item duplication glitch in Final Fantasy VII to duplicate those chocobo greens. It saved so much time grinding for the money to buy them to breed the birds.

The GCN version of Resident Evil 1 had a glitch where Jill could duplicate grenade shells if she had two different types.
Castlevania: SoTN has a lot of glitches. Flying outside of the castle, turning invisible, keeping your starting items, etc.
In Morrowind on the XBOX there is a permanent fortification glitch that involves making a soultrap on self spell combined with a fortification and then casting it at your feet.
In Oblivion on the 360 there is a glitch involving the Wizard's Tower. You save in the top of the tower between the garden and your bedroom and then leave the game, delete the dlc and then turn the game back on. When you load the save (you should be facing the door that goes outside the tower in your room) you simply swing your weapon to move towards it. You end up in a test area where you can get a powerful mace that does fire damage and can also get a sigil stone. Of course, there are also duplication glitches in Oblivion as well...
I also recall some of the DS and GBA Castlevania games having some glitches as well.

How is this done?

Keep your inventory(Alucard Sword,Alucard Shield,etc.)
To keep your default inventory at the beginning of the game ( the stuff that Death takes), you must first beat the game once and use the advanced luck cheat. Proceed right until you reach the room just before you meet Death for the first time. Kill the first two Wargs( giant wolves) or jump over them, and then jump over the third, but don't kill it. Now, get into your inventory and unequip all of your items,EXCEPT the Lapis Lazuli. Exit the inventory and continue. Jump into the last Warg. If you've done this correctly, you'll be sent flying across the next screen, past Death and into the next room, with all of your equipment! DON'T FALL IN THE GAP IN THE FLOOR ABOVE YOU!!!
If you do, the glitch will not work.

Actually, you do not have to beat the game once(you have to beat the game once if you want to play as Richter, by entering RICHTER as your name). All you have to do is use the luck code(enter your name as X-X!V''Q) and then do the other steps as stated above. You also don't have to remove all of your items. You can keep the sword on, which will help in getting past the first skeleton on your way to the first save room. Once you save, you will be able to get back into your menu and re-equip your items(you can't get into the menu after passing death until you save).
Also, you don't have to kill the first two wargs in the second long hallway before Death, you can do the glitch by getting hit by the first warg. Just wait until he charges, then jump over him and immediately walk left right into him and it should work. It's a lot faster to do it that way(in case you are trying to do a speed run).

This was a cool little lp devoted entirely to showing off glitches in Pokemon Blue:

Wow. Awesome xD There was a website dedicated to that a while ago, www.trsrockin.com, but it's been shut down. It's still available through internet archives though.

You guys are doing a way more complicated version of keeping your starting equipment in SOTN. All you have to do is the second you enter the area where Death takes your stuff, dash backwards. When you go back to where he was, he's gone.
Shake it, Quake it, Space Kaboom.

Minus World in SMB1.
In Mario 64, you can glitch your way past pretty much every Star Door.
Several spells/enemy weaknesses/items don't work correctly in Final Fantasy 1 on the NES.
In Goldeneye 64 multiplayer it was possible to break the music by setting off too many explosions at once, usually with either mines or grenade launchers. In fact, Goldeneye had a TON of glitches, some caused by the cheats, some not: http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/197462-goldeneye-007/faqs/9961
There was a glitch in Demon's Souls where you could duplicate any items you had using the storage guy that apparently never got patched so you could get infinite souls and hit max level really easily. Just found out about it the other day.
Dark Souls had a similar glitch but it got patched. It is easier to explain with a video.
There is also one that lets you copy all your items from your old character to a new one, which is kinda sucky because it means that now at low levels you don't get invaded by similarly equipped characters, instead you get attacked by ones decked out with the best weapons and armor in the game.

I lol'd at the fact that there's an item called the smoke pot.

Wow, one of the best games on the N64, yet so broken.

Not sure if they're technically a glitch or not, but the "secret areas" in Metroid on the NES.
In Pokemon Blue/Red you can use a pokedoll on cubones mother to allow you to get past Lavender Tower without using the Silph Scope.

What? No mention of the pause trick in Mega Man?
Also, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, if you use Jigglypuff's final smash in the bridge gap while the bridge is repairing itself will make you stay giant:

Now that you mention it, I also remember the bunker mine glitch. It's the one where you can make all explosives and knives float in midair after blowing up all the monitors at once in the main control room with remote mines.

You know I never thought of it that way, but that is pretty funny. Of course like in life, it's an item I use only occasionally.

I liked the door jumping in Metroid.
And the screen hopping in Link's Awakening.
And the item duplication in KOTOR on Manaan.
Those are the ones I always end up using, anyway.

Blaster Master also had a pause glitch.
Ghost 'N Goblins on the NES had a glitch that allowed you to kill enemies simply by exploiting the way the game scrolled.
