I counted and I have literally 19 games I have not played yet, and need to. Despite this, I still have a hankerin' to start new games on GTA: Vice City, MGS2, MGS3, and Pokemon Yellow, which obviously wouldn't be a wise choice not only because of finals coming up soon, but also because I have 19 games I need to play first. Does anyone else experience this problem?

I have this very same problem. I have way more than 19 though.
Some games i've started by having even put a dent into, like i've played about 20minutes of.
PS3 alone i've got Splatterhouse, FFXIII, 3D Dot Heroes, GT5, Dark Souls, Demon Souls, MGS4, MAG, GoW Collection, Batman Arkham Asylum, Aliens Vs Predator, Fear2, Skate2, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, Uncharted 2, Sly Collection - only started 2, not 3 at all.
...and that's just PS3 games.. i bought Silent Hill - yet to start it, barely made a dent on RE1.
For PC: 4 Penumbra games, 5 Prince of Persia Games, 2 seasons of Sam and Max, Just Cause 1 and 2, there's way more, i'll be here forever.
So don't feel bad...

I think I haven't played about 20% of the games I paid for. Most of them are on Steam that I picked up during sales.
More importantly, I still need to resume Persona 4. I have until the release of P4U to get going.

I don't buy games too frequently, and I make a good effort to complete something before I move on to something else. Then again, I'm not the guy that has to own a game on day one.

Yeah, my wife and her family get me games for Xmas, some I asked for, others I didn't. That's how I wound up with most of the COD games.....they basically just get me whatever the guy at the store says is the big game these days. They'll also occasionally get me a game like Mass Effect 2 when I hadn't played ME1 yet, so I need to go play 1 before I can start 2.

Usually I try to finish a game I do, however, have a problem MEGAfinishing it (You know, all secrets/trophies/collectibles/etc ). On my PS3, I have about 15 games, finished 11, and MEGAfinished just one

I have around 30 games on steam that I haven't played yet. I just can't grind out a game over a weekend anymore. Maybe I'm getting old but I can only play video games for a couple hours at a time.
At least I only buy games on sale for $5-10 so it doesn't feel so wasteful. I have a buddy who has just about every major release over the past year still in the original wrapping.

this is how i feel. i just cant power thru any games like i used to.
i also hate starting new games, cuz i know i still have another 10-30 hours to beat the game. its kind of like starting a new book. it feels like work. it used to be fun, but now it just feels like work

The last new game I bought was Monster Hunter Tri. I went out of my way to buy the bundle and everything. When I got home I didn't touch it for hours and when I finally got around to playing it I put it down after about ten minutes and haven't looked back. Much like the new Minecraft update or when I got to borrow Skyrim I barely played them and lost interest. I have about the same amount of unplayed games in my library and it kind of bothers me that I can't even work up the enthusiasm to play the ones I haven't even opened yet. I'm starting to think that I have a problem.

I pretty much have a rule that unless there's like a really awesome sale, I don't buy more than one game, or I don't buy a new game unless I finish the old batch.I don't finish a lot of my XBLA games that require a strategy guide to figure out the puzzles, and I have a damned library of "must-play" RPG's that I didn't finish because I want to play a game, not watch ten minute cutscenes talking about the power of friendship and the human heart. Then there's Okami, and I really can't give a reason for not finishing it, since I was having a really fun time with it. I have to finish it one day, while the plot is still fresh in my mind.

Sadly, a vast majority of my games are either unopened, never played or uncompleted. That number is also, sadly, in the several hundred. Maybe I can win the lottery and retire early, then I might have enough time to complete all of the games I want to, but I will never complete them all. Someone is going to inherit a shitload of games from me one day.

For some reason, I go out of my way to avoid finishing games. Alll I have left to do in Dawn of Sorrow is fight the end boss, and I haven't done it. And it's been like 5 years at this point. And I'm on the last day in SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked, and I keep doing Free Battles instead of advancing the plot.

This is me too. Also, I'm a bit of a completist so when I do play a game, I have to spend as much time as possible collecting and seeing as much of the game as possible, so one game will take me a month or so to complete, and I only play one or two games at a time.
Yet every time Steam has a sale, I have to pick more up because I'm not one to let bargains pass me by when I see them. I'll eventually play these games, but it'll be years before I get to some which is fine by me because that means I'll also get these super high profile AAA games at bargain basement prices.

Yeah, buying games and starting them is just so much fun. I think i need to finish, BoF3, Dissida, Pokemon Black, Pokemon Heartgold, Persona 4, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Kung Fu (it's hard) and a couple of others.

I think I'm going to finish the games I already own before getting any more. Games I own and are determined to finish but haven't yet include Faxanadu, Phantasy Star II, Final Fantasy IX, Lufia, Lufia II, Suikoden and Chrono Cross (which I haven't even played yet). If I stay 10 to 15 years behind in the video game world then I'll never find myself running out of games to play. And I'll certainly never be one of those geeks that camp out in front of a video game store waiting for the next Halo game to come out.

Part of the issue is that I buy games because I like to have OPTION to play them, and you never what might shoot up horribly in price if you try and pick it up years later instead of right away.

Another thing is that if I ever have other gamers over the house, I want them to be impressed, instead of "Oh, why don't you have X game?"
...which is stupid, because my collection of 360 games is largely comprised of fighting games, shmups, and Catherine as opposed to Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War.
