Hi guys! Surprisingly, I'm still not dead, even thought Syd has told me a billion times he will kill me. I'm a Minecraft n00b, and I'm already addicted. I was really jazzed to play on the same server as my best friend from college, but he's currently running 1.9 and for some reason I can't download it on my Mac. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm thinking it might be because I have Lion for my O.S. right now...

If there's a newer OS, definitely update to that.

Lion is the newest. I think that my friends DON'T have it because Zack told me my computer is "all messed up". I'm pretty positive I didn't magically change the whole format of the computer myself...

Yeah, just delete your minecraft folder and re-download it from the site. Just make sure you backup your worlds.

I actually googled around and figured out it was just that Lion changed the way Finder shows up so I had to mod it a little and now I can find all the files I needed. Problem solved. Thanks The video really helped.

You mean like hiding the folders you want to see and removing the shortcuts to them?
Yeap... thats Apple's new approach. People who upgrade from 10.6 to 10.7 should keep their finder shortcuts but will still lose some of the hidden folders from visibility. 10.7 computers that ship now will use the default finder shortcuts and offer even less access by default.
Click the Go menu in Finder and then hold the Option key to show the Library folder. Also, you can go into Finder's preferences to alter what it shows up with by default. You can drag folders to the shortcut bar on the left to make for quicker access.

So is Minecraft no longer about building things that look like Legos? I thought that was the whole fucking point?

Well, the building stuff with blocks is still a quite core part of the game, but there is now stuff like enemy mobs, alternate worlds (read: The Nether), health and hunger, some of these features were implemented a while ago, some were quite recent (hunger was introduced in the second-latest non-prerelease version of Minecraft, 1.8 Beta, for example)
