Portal will be free on Steam until 9/20.

If you do not have a Steam Account, you can sign up for one, choose the option to play portal and you will then own it forever even if you do not install it.

I think that Team Fortress is always free though. Portal is temporarily free.

^to be fair, it was kind of supposed to be. I think it was supposed to be something kind of fun to release on the Orange Box and it just sort of blew up from there.
