Everything he says about this movie is totally true. I loved this episode more than most NCs, because "Alaska" is the movie that inspired little Hawk--when she was just a wee little hawklette--to go to Alaska. (Which I did, many years later.) I am not exaggerating when I say that Jake Barnes (Dirk Benedict's character in the movie) was my complete and total idol for like, five years. I wanted to be an Alaskan bush pilot just like him.

tl;dr - this NC episode is great, although--no matter what he says--this movie will always have a very special place in my heart.

Also, I always wondered...given what happens to him in the movie, do you think that naming him Jake Barnes was a subtle Sun Also Rises reference...?
