Blades that are never used properly on a kids cartoon!
They'll cut ropes and supports to drop things on the bad guys heads. They'll slash tires. They'll cut enemy weapons in two. But they will never cut flesh!

It's like a vicious circle: For every great cartoon/movie/comic, there must always be a shitty one. Since Turtles Forever kicked ass, it means it's time to bring in the shittiness.
Though to be fair, it's still way too early to tell.

I think that was because there was a brief period where nunchucku related injuries among children rose. I know I both hit myself in the head and crotched myself a time or two with those things.
I don't even think they were real ones. I think I made them with a couple of wooden dowels and some garden yarn.

I may be off with this tidbit of info, but I think it also had to do with England's rampant bias against ninjas, considering them the devil incarnate. And since Nunchucks somehow equals Ninjas, not only let for the show to be called Teenage Mutant HERO turtles in the UK, but also led for Mikey to lose his Nunchucks, among other things.

Don't forget violently slash robots to pieces! Mikey will surely decapitate scores of ninja robots with them, but club living enemies with the blunt handles instead.
