Dear God.

And I always thought the one good thing about living in a state run by liberals was that I'd never have to deal with this video game bullshit.

I guess not, huh? We can have all the abortions the clincs can handle and all the discount oil that Hugo Chavez will sell us, but God forbid a teenage buy a copy of RockStar's Bully.

It's also incredibly unsurprising that this bill was originally conceived by Mumbles Menino.

I can't believe that. So now every kid has to put up with playing games that are educational? kids play video games to forget about school. they shouldn't have to classify as "edutainment" to be suitable for children.

I grew up playing wolfenstein 3d. it was my first game ever. Did it have any real "literary,artistic,political or scientific" things to offer me? no. what did it teach me? Nazi's are assholes,and you should shoot them. and that hitler lived in a bunker in a metal suit with 4 mounted Gatling guns mounted to it. Also,that zombies with cannons mounted to their chests are whisper quiet,so you have to be alert. that's fucking valuable information.

Anyway, this is the first time I've been glad that I live in Missouri. By the time legisation (like the seatbelt law) gets passed here, it's 15 years old on the east coast.

But still, Jack Thompson making laws. *shudder*. I know this may add to his point, but someone should've offed that douchebag back when he crawled out of whatever gorilla anus he was inside.

EDIT: Damn, shit like this pisses me off! Parents think that it's the fault of the game manufacturer, or the person who sells the stuff. Listen, moronic parents, just because your kid likes Halo 2 doesn't mean he's gonna kill his graduating class with an AK-47. If you don't want him to play the games, then don't let him by them. Don't put the responsibility on the retailer, and infringe on people's rights in the process, just so you can be a lazy fuckstick.

I live in Oregon, and we just constantly piss off the rest of the country with our laws. Things like Doctor Assisted Suicide, and we had legal gay marrage for like a week, before it got shot down.

The only reason JT (We're down like that, so I can call him JT) uses video games as his arguement in everything, is that is gets him noticed. Can you name any other lawyers other than Jonny Cochrine and maybe a few in your home town that you see shitty commercials for?

Obvisiously his plan is working, becasue he just got elected, right?

This shit won't go down over here, either. The backlash would be crazy huge, it won't happen. Thompson's just opening his mouth so people will notice him. I don't know what the hell his problem is. The only reason I pay attention to it anymore is the novelty factor. It's funny to read how obnoxious he is.

I believe the main issue lies with parenting. I would go into a rant about it... but I think I've already done that on here. I'll say this though: If parents would raise their kids to have common sense, moral sense, and a bit of critical thinking LIKE THEY SHOULD... it would help cut down on a lot of shit, including murders committed by people who happen to play video games. Religion has killed more people by its influence than video games, and I don't see anyone bitching about that.

If you want to read about something simular to Thompsons crusade against Video Games, read Mick Foley's 2nd Autobiography "Foley Is Good". At the end of the book he talks about The PTC and it's leader, Brent Bozell's crusade against Pro Wrestling.

It's pretty much the same thing. Bozell tageted Wrestling has being responsible for the death of various children and an increase in child violence just to push his own carreer. Just like Thompson is doing with Videogames. Just like Joseph McCarthy did with Communism. Just like Adolf Hitler did with Jews.

See a pattern?
