New 2D Kirby platformer just announced at E3 for the Wii this fall.

It has a very interesting art style and game-mechanic. Looks quite unique and gorgeous.

Anyone see this yet?

It looks a lot like LittleBigPlanet in presentation. I'm in.

Agreed, and like a thread version of Paper Mario. Visuals look VERY impressive and innovative this thing actually looks better than most usual realistic games on 360/PS3.

Yoshi's Story was a very pretty game. Too bad it was easy as cake. Hopefully this will have a difficulty curve.

Yeah, I feel if it made you go through ALL of the levels rather than just one of your choosing from each world and had more trouble spots, it would've been an awesome 2D sidescroller for N64.

It looks like it'll follow Kirby's Canvas Curse in spirit, in that it has him move in an unusual way and not involve eating anything. If that turns out to be the case, I want it to be as difficult.

Did anyone ever play Squeak Squad or Amazing Mirror? I really liked Canvas Curse, but never picked up any of the post-Curse handhelds. Unless you count Super Star.

I've played Squeak Squad, it's a nice fun game. However like most 2D Kirbys these days it suffers from easy difficulty and short length. Still fun though as always, it IS dat der' Kirbeh.

I never tried Canvas Curse, but judging from personal experience, Kirby games have never been overbearingly difficult.

Canvas Curse had some challenging parts. Mostly the time/paint trials and the end boss.

Squeak Squad I found to be very, very easy, but some of the new abilities were kinda cool. I didn't like how they got rid of Rock and replaced it with Steel, though. Rock let you slide down slopes and such, metal just made you a slow, clunky, indestructible Kirby.

Amazing Mirror has a Metroidvania type of gameplay instead of the usual "levels" type. I thought it was good, but those types of games can get a little tedious.

Gameplay from E3, the art design is quite clever and trippy. Also, definitley looks like it supports co-op.

I like the art style, but without eating his enemies and absorbing their powers it just doesn't look like a Kirby game. Is this what happened to the Gamecube game we were expecting?

The game looks interesting, and I'd love to play it. However, I agree with Thunderhorse, it looks a bit off with the lack of copying powers and such. Then again there's something to be said about getting out of the loop and trying something new, so I'll be looking to see how the game does.

It isn't like he isn't gaining new powers and staying as plain Kirby. You see him transforming into a bunch into different things.

Yeah, I understand that. It will be fun to drive a Mech-Kirby and such, but to me it will also feel a tad strange to not be on the classic 'eat fire enemy, become fire Kirby' formula. Which, again, can be good or bad.

IMO, Kirby as a platformer was really in dire need of a new gameplay mechanic, this seems to fit the bill well.
