From Hipster Runoff
"Now it's cool to have 14 people in your band doing everything but contributing musically, running around with a helmet on your head, hitting it with a drumstick. You gotta look at what you're in this for: the love of music? The fame? You can have all that if you're smart and play your cards right and don't become a dick." - Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill

I want to start a technical death metal band that has two drummers, three guitarists, two bass players, four vocalists, and a guy that does power tool solos. We'll remix nothing but Usher and R. Kelly songs. Everyone will not only wear silly masks, but multiple silly masks at the same time.

^ Haha.
I like neither bands particularly but Kings of Leon? Who gives a fuck about them anymore.
That guy Nathan whatever is talking about fame going to the head etc. and look at the stuff he and his band mates have done.
They walked off fucking stage because they regarded the crowd as being "shit". That is the epitome of fucking fame going to your head:
"Oh i can just walk off the stage despite the fact that people have paid to see us play because i am famous and the only repercussions this will hold is it getting printed in some shitty online newsletter cause no one gives a fuck about us"

That article was unreadable. The comments are even worse. I must be out of touch with the hip culture. Then again, I'm listening to Frederic Chopin right now, so I think that answers my own question.

Arcade Fire released the best album of the millenium so far. Kings of Leon just take what's popular with hipsters (Band of Horses, Arcade Fire, etc.), and use it to their own advantage. To me, it'd be like Chad Kroeger calling Pearl Jam as overrated trash or something. You don't insult your trailblazers in such a terrible manner. Offer critique, fine, but... just... ugh. Sorry, I spurged out, but my opinion sticks.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

I don't care if you're out of touch. That article was unreadable. And I can handle comments being retarded, but that was ridiculous. Bro this, bro that. I'm lost.

I really enjoy Arcade Fire, and I think that Funeral is a very good album. I think Kings of Leon are okay musically, at least their earlier stuff, but honestly, if anybody seems to act like a bunch of pretentious dickheads, it's them. "Oh, we won't let Glee use our music because we're so not commercial." So what if someone wants to wear a helmet and bang on it; if the band can swing having them up there and onstage, going on tour with them, they can have a whole retard percussion orchestra for all I care.
And that article was worse than Cormac McCarthy's The Road. I want to hurt something to avenge my neurons for soaking up all the bro-ness contained therein because it refuses to be expunged.

And yet their latest album has "commercial trash" written all over it. Oh how I loathe this band.

The articles on Hipster Runoff are written that way because it's ironic. Or that's the idea anyway.
They are all terrible. But somehow it's managed to become an "important" music site.
