I've noticed something about myself. Whenever I listen to a song I really enjoy, it gives me more energy than coffee or any energy drink. One song that especially has this effect on me is Knights of Cydonia by Muse. I've long wondered if I'm alone on this, and what songs give people "power." Ready.... GO!

No, caffeine generally jacks me up more than music does, and for longer, but I like my soda with Excedrin. That said, I get pumped when I listen to something like Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry or Wisconsin Death Trip by Static X. Then again, those songs would make the perfect mix tape for a meth fueled three day car chase, so...

No, I totally agree. The only bad part is that the energy kick I get from music doesn't last nearly as long as the kick from caffeine.
Generally when I need a boost like that though, I crank some Iron Maiden. Anything from "Number of the Beast," "Piece of Mind," or "Brave New World" will do it. Selected songs by Metallica, AC/DC, Queen or Black Sabbath are pretty good too.

Totally. Whenever I get exhausted at work, I just start humming one of these songs and I feel much better.
Thanks for these posts, I like them because they can lead you to new music you didn't know about before. EDIT: And could someone learn me the magic of posting a video?

I read an article somewhere that said loud, fast music actually can give you a burst of adrenaline. I don't doubt it......I know when I'm pushing for that last mile of a run, a good song on my Ipod will carry me through and make me feel invincible when I know I should be out of gas.

Yea, pretty much, and when a more chill song comes on I seem to lose the energy.
Music has powerful effects and can enhance any mood. It can pump you up, help you relax or help you cope when your depressed, etc...
It may sound odd to most of you, but "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross has been getting my ire up recently. A lot of it is the gradual building up and layering of instrumentation through the choruses. Besides that, it's always great to hear Michael McDonald, even if I'm always laughing a little bit.
