Seems like Capcom is really cranking out the fighting games as of late. I came across this and got really excited though.
http://kotaku.com/5595515/street-fighter-iii-3rd-strike-online-edition-announced-at-comic+con
I'm not sure how much anyone else cares, but I love SFIII as some of you know. Sure it's probably not going to be much different from the online anniversary collection on the Xbox, but I'm going to choose to be delusional and hope for additional content, like new characters and storylines. Hell, go all out and make it SFIII: Fourth Strike or something.
Won't someone else out there show some love?

This will be my first experience with the SF3 series, though I've seen several videos.
What I'm guessing is that this will essentially be a Street Fighter 3: Third Strike HD Remix, but it'd be nice to get some additional content.

It will probably just be a port of third strike.
I just wish capcom would adopt the "random lobby" system like the doa games, where you can watch matches and shoot the shit with a group of random people until your turn, instead of the "keep searching for opponents" thing that they've been doing since the FIRST time 3s went online.
I suck at this game but will probably still get it. I'm a yang player.

Capcom is doing big things. They might as well put this online, SFII and SFIV already made it online. Played the shit out of this on Dreamcast.
Anyways, this game has the best engine in the series IMO, very competitive. The parry system has a great risk/reward mechanic, and it takes alot of finesse.
I don't care much for the roster of this game, I'll be honest. Alot of the new characters introduced remind me of Guilty Gear characters for some reason. Still though, most play like their SFII "counter-parts", so it isn't too big of a deal.

I've never been good at it, but watching tournament vids on YouTube makes it seem like a lot of meter building and.... Crouching.
I play too offensively because I'm impatient.

It's all about parrying and seizing the opportunity. There is a heavy focus on defense for sure, but I think that it balances itself out overall with the offense. You can string together very cool combos.
Also, the music, levels and general art design are all great in this game, the hand-drawn sprites look gorgeous.

Yea, this game would be the best if it had more of the SFII cast in it. I don't mind some new characters, but scrapping nearly the entire cast is brutal.
Apparently when Capcom was making the game, they intended to entirely scrap the cast but early fan outcry was too overwhelming and they threw Ryu and Ken in at the last second.

I'm still waiting for SFI online. Beware Ryu players, my Ken is a beast!

I'll admit, it'll be a tough sale for me if it's simply TS with online capabilities. I'd be happy if all three versions were included though. I think it'll be more fun online than SFIV though, simply because III isn't for everyone and those that enjoy III do so for it's finese, not just to throw an endless line of projectiles. I'll buy it just for sheer fan support.

I'd have to guess dlc, but if they add enough extras this could easily be released on disc.
Also, if I remember correctly, I think SF3TS was on the Dreamcast, so it might be one of those upcoming games to be released on Xbox Live.

Hadn't noticed this! It sure would be great if Capcom put in even a slight amount of new content, but I won't blame them if they don't.
In the meantime, enjoy the game's artwork here: http://www.zweifuss.ca/

Judging by this quote by Yoshinori Ono, I think they will be doing more than just adding online matchmaking.
| Ono wrote: |
| "We're just starting to work on it," Ono said of the new version of Street Fighter III, so "It won't be out in the immediate future." The fighting game producer said that fans should be vocal about their wishes for Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition as the team working on it had just begun development. |
I would love them to add some more of the SSF2 characters to the roster, that would be a dream come true.

I think they're concentrating on making ssfiv the game with everyone in it. That quote sounds like the same thing that any producer says when they're making a game. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

I'd be all for it if they could re-balance it more, so that way I won't have to fight a million Kens and Chun-Lis online.

I realize that, but you should know more than anyone, Capcom truly listens to the fanbase. I just want Bison, haha.

I wouldn't mind a couple SFII and Alpha characters added, it would be interesting to see them in a Third Strike style. I think it'd be bad ass if they did sprites for a couple of the new characters in SFIV, Juri and Abel would be cool. Also, I'll fight all the Kens and Chun-Lis out there, I can parry all their shit like no tomorrow.

I don't think capcom has any more sprite artists. That's why they hire guys like udon and inti-creates to make their 2d games now. It would be a pain to draw a bunch of new characters and code them into what is probably going to just be the same as mvc2's online debut.
