These new puzzles look pretty intense, Valve has really seemed to up the ante, plus it looks gorgeous.

Jesus Christ GLaDOS is terrifying.

<docinsano>i beat off using save states

<Tako> But, brontosaurs ate plants. It wouldn't be a threat to Jesus.

Why? Fuck you, that's why.

Yeah... it looks awesome. I love the individual motion that each triggered action shows. Not everything is in sync and it makes the environment look really dynamic.

Forget to mention that this was Microsoft and PC exclusive until last night, when they said it would be coming to PS3.

This is great news for folks like me who don't own an XBOX or a PC powerful enough to run the game.

The tractor beams look confusing as hell as shown. I am a huge fan of the laser redirection cubes and the launch pads. Burning the enemy robots is hysterical.

I also really like the gels, but some of those levels looked a lot trickier than in the first game. In some cases it looks as devious as the bonus levels. I definitely wasn't ready to play the bonus levels until after I finished the original game and was more used to the game dynamics.

True, it did seem more difficult, but that should not be a problem for someone so broken into the game's style, right?

Most people that are going to play this probably played the first one into the ground (myself included), I think we'll be fine.

Portal 2 was announced at E3 to be coming to Xbox360 and PS3.

The PS3 version according to Gabe wil be the best console version and will feature updates via steam which is also being implemented onto ps3 - to the best of my knowledge.

no more cake apparently. unless thats a lie too:
Quote:
Fans shouldn't have too much to worry about when it comes to the writing in Portal 2. Valve's Erik Wolpaw recently spoke with Gamasutra about the upcoming sequel, explaining that he has no plans to rehash jokes from the first Portal.

"If you thought you were sick of the memes, I was sick of it way ahead of you," the Portal writer told Gamasutra, adding, "For instance, cake. I've had enough cake jokes."

Sure, there will still be a handful of familiar elements -- otherwise Portal 2 wouldn't be Portal 2 -- but the devs hope to resist the temptation to revisit old material. "The cubes are in there because they're a gameplay element, and obviously, GLaDOS is back, but there's a bunch of new gameplay and we want to tell an interesting new story," said Wolpaw.

"We didn't jettison everything, but I absolutely do not want to try and resurrect a three-year-old meme. That seems like it would be kind of sad," he added. "It's not a good idea."

The real bummer here is that we'll have to wait until sometime next year to actually play through Portal 2.

I was very over the cake jokes as well, though.

Valve announced the disappointing news back in June that Portal 2's release would be delayed from this holiday season into next year, but it turns out it won't be too much longer of a wait after all. During GamesCom 2010 in Germany, Valve confirmed the new release date of February 9, 2011.

The news comes by way of British site CVG, so it's still unclear if that specific date is for Europe only, or applies for North America as well. Even if there's a difference, though, it likely won't be more than a couple of days (North American release dates tend to be a couple days earlier than European dates).

But that's not the only Portal 2 news out of GamesCom -- Valve also announced that Stephen Merchant, who you no doubt know for appearing on and co-writing the original British version The Office, has joined the cast to voice "buddy sphere" Wheatley, which is literally a robotic sphere that will join and help the player at least part of the way through the game.

Portal 2 is being developed for the PC, Xbox 360, and, yes, the PlayStation 3, which Valve president Gabe Newell proclaimed at E3 would be the best console version of the game.

I don't care what the graphics are like as long as Glados is back. Best. Villain. Ever.

I'm actually completely ignoring any information on this game, and buying it at the first absolute chance I can. I bought Orange Box for my 360 on day one just for Episode 2, and was surprised with how well-written, smooth, and balls-out fun Portal was (while keeping the post-release hype and "Cake is a lie!" aftermath out of my pre-judgements). I remember being struck by how deep glados' character was by doing simple things such as believing that humans are motivated to do anything if cake was promised as a reward, or that simply telling someone that they love the companion cube will automatically create affinity in that person's heart.

I also learned that "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" is a great way to get her tested.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
