So, dear Sydlexia members, have you ever wanted to write (or written!?) a book?
I definitely have/am going to! I want to write two vampire books, one to poke fun of them much like Discworld does with Fantasy tropes, and one to be utterly serious with terrifying rape-y vampires.
You guys?

I have a 2/3 complete Choose Your Own Adventure novel that I started some twelve years ago and never finished.

I wrote a stupid book about a lost child in 3rd grade.
I also wrote a 100 page screen play for a film class I took.

I would have liked to write a book, but I can't seem to sit down and collect my thoughts long enough to get something going.

I have a really cool idea for some sort of space travel/galactic civil war/magic and faith kind of thing.

I'm writing one now, although it's going MUCH slower than I would have like/expected. Making new friends who I hang out with all the fucking time didn't help my progress either, but it's not the sort of thing I'd complain about. Don't worry though, it will come.
If this pans out, I also have a few other cool ideas. I know some of them have been done before, but I have at least one other idea that, like the one I'm working on now, has never been published so that'd probably be the next one to work on.

I'm in the (long) process of writing a story about a rock band. Like a serious Spinal Tap. It's gone through so many rewrites though.

If it's a serious spinal tap, isn't it just a regular story about a fictional band?

I just wrote a short story about the Wandering Jew arguing with Melchizedek. It probably needs some more editing, but right now I'm pretty proud of it.

Well it's serious, but it takes all the cliches of the genre. This band has been through like 8 different singers, for instance.

I actually started on my novel just the other day, under an interesting premise. I help my mom clean churches to make a bit of money on the side, and while cleaning I wondered "Why do the first 3 rows never need to be vacuumed?" I then thought of a how much a person who spent their life cleaning up after people would know about these people, their darkest secrets and strangest tendencies.
This is the main character of my novel. A socially akward male who has cleaned the houses and meeting places of people his whole life. He slowly learns who these people really are under the act they portray to visitors and the public, and slowly start to gain a sense of vigilante justice until he finally starts a full on killing spree. He kills those he feels are 'evil' by what he knows of their personal choices.
The 'hero' of the story is going to be a detective. If you could imagine the biggest douche bag you've ever met, you have the detective. My goal is to make you hate him in every way, even though he is supposed to be the hero who catches the killer.
It's still a work in progress, but I think it has promise. I would love some feedback, critics are welcome!

To be honest every idea has been done in some way or another, it hard to be truly 'novel' writing a novel. I think its all about putting your own spark in the idea.

sick burn!
seriously though, I know my description makes it sound exactly like that. but the idea I have is nothing like that. I'm not sure how to eloquently explain it though, as it's just a little idea floating around in my head.
