I remember my friend had Vivid back in like, '04, and I fell in love with that tape then, and went out and bought it. Then I listened lots and put it away and never checked it out again. Then a day or two ago I was listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and it got me in the mood, so I popped it in, and have been listening since. I reall, really dig Vivid but I don't own, nor have I seen at a thrift store, any of their other stuff. So, how's the rest of their catalogue, or any Living color fans here?

Also, I thought a few times that it'd sound real cool if Scott Weiland sang for them.

Alright, here's the master! Vivid is by far Living color's finest album, but all their others are also spectacular (I own them all on cd, as well as Vivid on vinyl). The great thing about Living color though, is that every album is completely different from the others, yet there's no denying who wrote it.

Time's Up is very...eclectic. The band definitely brings all their influences forward, with appearances by Little Richard and Queen Latifah. Funk, jazz, blues, rap, metal. great stuff.

Stain is HEAVY. It's such a killer album, definitely their heaviest.

Collideoscope is a more industrial album, with a very fitting cover of Back In Black in there for good measure.

The Chair In The Doorway, their latest, is a lot closer to Vivid than any other album. Kind of a modern day version. Really good.

So yeah, that's each album in a nutshell. I can go more in depth if necessary.

Does anybody here have a Ross Rifle?

I thought i would see Ross Rifle posting here after the PM i sent him regarding LC.

Yeah Living color are great. To be honest i don't think Vivid is their best work. Some of the songs on their sound a lot better live. I don't think the mix of the album was all that great. Though their are a lot of solid songs on it. My favorite being Memories Can't Wait.. even though it's not by them. If you check out their sort of compliation album "Pride" it has an amazing live version of it on it.

Oh yes and what version of Vivid did you get? The old one or the new one with extra tracks e.g. Should I Stay or Should I Go cover on it?

Of their other albums:

Time's Up is my favorite album by them. There is not a bad song on it. Like Ross said though it is quite eclectic and uses a lot of different genres in it but it's still a brilliant album. If you like Vivid you would enjoy it. Songs to check out: Time's Up, Pride, Love Rears It's Ugly Head, New Jack Theme and Type!! Anything off it.

Stain is not as eclectic as Times Up but there is still some experimental stuff on it. Some great tracks from it i would check out: Go Away, Bi, Ignorance is Bliss, Nothingness.

Collideøscope is probably is probably my least favorite album by them. Theres some great tracks on it. Such as A ? of When and A Song Without Sin but i don't really like it apart from that.

The Chair in the Doorway is their new one out this year. It's great probably my second favorite. For some reason when i heard it i thought of sort of electronica but its not electronica at all. Theres a wide variety of stuff on it. Slide guitar and creative bass lines. I would highly recommend picking it up.

I thought I remembered Ross being a fan, huh. Anyway, old version, and thanks for all the input. I definitely plan to check out more of their stuff.
