I've never liked the $100,000 Pyramid. I don't know if it's the game play, Dick Clark or the annoying theme. I mean it's a legit game show unlike shit like Deal or No Deal, but everytime I see it come on, I immediately flip the channel. And what's with Dick? He comes off as such as asshole on here, I mean if I was a contestant I would want to punch him in his 90 year old face. He's one of the most unlikeable hosts I've ever seen for a game show.

Also, I don't know if there are any other GSN fans out there, but what is going on? It seems like now more than ever they're trying to suffocate their core audience with Deal or No Deal and Family Feud. Around 2 years ago, the channel was much more diverse and even revived a few old shows like Chain Reaction and Press Your Luck with new game play and are now hardly shown at all. After they acquired Who Wants to be a Millionaire, it's becoming more of a newer game show syndication station. Just a mild criticism, I miss the old line up they used to have.

I never liked Pyramid either.

Expressing this opinion on a game show forum can be dangerous. The show is god to them.

UGHHHH, Deal or No Deal is a bunch of shit!

I've only seen the pyramid one a couple times. It seemed pretty boring and the host is annoying.

I love game shows, and I don't even mind some of the newer ones, but once they start cramming the channel with them at the expense of some of the classics, it is unacceptable.

Personally, I would like to see 24 half hour shows with each game show shown in back to back episodes. This gives good variety and still allows for multiple episodes of each show. Mix it up with older and newer. There will be something for everyone without getting too much of one show. I can think of 24 good shows. Hell they could even fit in a block of kids gameshows after school from 3 pm until 5 pm

I have a friend who appeared on, and won, the GSN show Catch 21

He's "Tim".

He was also on "1 vs 100" as part of the Mob, but lost on the first question. It was about postage stamps.

Exactly!

What I like:

Match Game
Press Your Luck
Lingo
Chain Reaction
That's The Question
Jeopardy
Password Plus/Super Password
Family Feud (in moderation, no need to have 7 episodes a day)
Let's Make a Deal

Those are mostly games you can play along with and actually enjoy. How does one play along with Deal or No Deal? I swear the only reason people watch that show is to see how stupid and greedy people are. You're almost always guarenteed to take home around $30,000 - $60,000 with the 2nd or 3rd offer, so why not just take it? I always love the people who go home with $25 because they "believe" in their case. If I ever got on that show, 2nd or 3rd offer, hit the button.

Jeopardy is the only game show I really enjoy. I watched a lot of Wheel of Fortune because my grandma adores it, but me + spelling = not so much (maybe you've noticed Razz ), so its never been my favorite.

Only other "gameshow" I like is the classic Hollywood Squares with Paul Lynde, but I don't really consider that a game show, as the 'game' is really just an excuse for the comedians to make with the funny.

Let's make a deal with Monty Hall was righteous. Let's make a deal with Wayne Brady makes me claw my eyes out.

The reason I no longer like Wheel of Fortune is it's so forumlamtaic; T, R, S, N, buy a vowel, etc. It's not a very hard gameshow to begin with, which is why I used to kill at it even at the age of 9. Also, I just don't like Sajack that much anymore, he looks like such a weasel.

And I agree Josh, what's with it nowadays with replacing REAL game show hosts with washed up actors? I know Bob Barker and Richard Dawson got their starts in acting, but it's few and far between to find someone who can make the transition correctly. Part of the charm of Bob was that if you fucked up, he'd tell you that you fucked up. With Richard, well he was so fucking sauced every time he was in front of the camera that it made no difference what he did, and guess what? NO ONE has done a better job since him. Richard Karn was alright, but I hated Louie Anderson, John O'Hurley and that guy who killed himself.

Also Usa, I didn't watch the clips of your friend but the thing I've noticed about Catch 21 at the end is, everyone always uses their powerchips on minor cards. I never understand why, since your best bet is to play every card and then only use the powerchips when you're about to go over, it gives you the best option to win.

So I decided I wanted to make the perfect weekday GSN lineup. But I found it to be more challenging than I had anticipated. I wanted to devote an entire hour to each show. This means hour shows would air once, while half hour shows would air back to back. I figured this way, people would get plenty of each show, but in moderation. I also wanted a 3 hour kids afterschool block that consisted of 6 half hour shows.

No shows were off limits, so it wouldn't matter if I wouldn't be able to get the show in real life. But I did want to take into consideration the best times to air each show. For example, the kids block would be after school. The more popular shows would be in prime time slots, followed by classic favorites like Fued and Match Game.

My problem is that I can't fit in all the shows I want. On top of that, some popular shows are being pushed out of ideal time slots. Should I alter my format and give some half hour shows only one episode? Should I drop the kids block? Should I use only the best shows even though some of them will only be on in he middle of the night? Should I split shows up rather than airing them back to back? Am I letting my own personal preference cloud my judgement? I don't know. If you would like, you can offer me some feedback.

Here are the shows I currently have in no certain order.

Lingo
Chain Reaction
Who Wants to be a Millionaire
Family Fued
Match Game
1 vs. 100
Weakest Link
Press Your Luck
Remote Control
Let's Make a Deal
Price is Right
Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy
Hollywood Squares
Card Sharks
Password
Scrabble
Pyramid
Classic Concentration
Newlywed Game
Supermarket Sweep

Kids shows:

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
Fun House
Double Dare
Finders Keepers
Legends of the Hidden Temple
GUTS

What I miss on GSN are the late night black and white shows, like What's My Line? and The Name's the Same. They have the original Password on now, but it's just plain dull, I dunno why.

Me and the wife still watch Wheel of Fortune sporadically, and I usually get the puzzle about midway through. I like the college edition because it provides the most epic fails.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

What's My Line? is pretty good, but The Name's the Same feels like a bit of a ripoff. Also the host's head is very weirdly shaped.

Also good call on Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, I really wish they would have a Saturday morning line up for kids. Hell, I would still watch it!

Press Your Luck was godly, I always watched that when it was on. I enjoy the remake more, for more modernized purposes. Then of course, you gotta have Price Is Right, that show was always entertainment.

I liked the remake "Whammy" except for the boisterous host. He reminds me of Christopher McDonald on a sugar rush. But I definately like the double whammy route they did.

I think when GAS was replaced by The N (now Nick Teen), those shows all went back to the vault.
