Hey everybody. I had this idea years ago when Enshin did the 'Greatest Metal Band' game and I sort of forgot about it. Those of you around back then will be familiar with it.

The premise is that I've taken 50 albums from the year 1994 and pitted them against each other in a fight to the death that will be entirely dictated by you, the SydLexian community. Why 1994? Well, I happen to think it was the best year for music in the 90's. This may or may not be largely due to the breakout album of my favorite band.

Here's how the game works. Each day, 00:00 EST - 23:59 EST, every forum member gets to deal 1 damage to an album, and boost an album by 1. So a typical post might look like this:

Ross Rifle wrote:
+1 TLC - CrazySexyCool
-1 Bush - Sixteen Stone

Thus putting Bush at 4/5, and bumping TLC up to 6/6. Boosting an album with full 'Hit Points' will raise it's max HP, boosting an injured album will not.

Damage resolution will be done at, or as close to, midnight EST each day. So if you see that someone just bumped off your favorite album, you can still boost it and let it live to see another day.

My hope for this is that people will be voting more for the album than for the band. For example, if Slayer is your #1 band, but you really don't care for Divine Intervention, I would hope you wouldn't vote for it, just because it's Slayer.

As those of you around during the Metal game will remember, the end game could have gone on indefinitely, so this time around I am going to be implementing a system where forumers will level up, as well as having items that forumers will be able to use at their discretion. I haven't hammered out the exact details, but it should be interesting and I will always be open to suggestions.

When I post the daily results, I will also post any news involving level ups and items. So if you don't read every post, make sure you at least look for the Hurricane symbol.

I think that's all I need to say, but I'm sure I'll think of something later and have to edit. So without further ado, here are your 50 competitors!

this game fails on two levels:

a) no Illmatic
b) No Overkill's WFO (though I'm probably the only one who gives a shit about that one).

I don't quite get the point of this, but it reminds me how much 1994 sucked. This was the beginning of the end of the era.

"Illmatic" was by Nas, and "WFO" was an Overkill album. Wasn't that one of their groovy albums when they tried to be Pantera?
