I just watched this pilot last night and I'm not going to watch anymore of this show. I'm not the world's biggest fan of medical shows to begin in, but "Mercy" sounded like it could be interesting (I'll later give "Trauma" a try). But why wasn't it? It's the same crap. Is this really NBC's answer to Grey's or Private Practice?
Veronica is an Iraq vet, you can tell because this is brought up about fifty times during the episode. She's a pendulum swinging back and forth between cold hearted bitch and caring nurse. She's smarter than most of the doctors at the hospital, but gets yelled at by all the men in charge regardless. She's, surprise, in a love triangle between her husband who cheated on her while she was at war and the man she had an affair with in Iraq who is now a doctor at her hospital. Her character even tells her brother at one point that she's all over the place... Yeah. For sure. Positively, she's pretty hot.
Michelle Trachtenberg plays Dawn, an annoying new nurse who graduated top of her class but doesn't have the stomach for the job. She pretty much spends the pilot being Dawn again.
Sonia is the hot black woman who makes two struts during the episode to loud pop music. She gets laid by a cop at one point.
The two other noticeable cast members are Captain Janeway and Delroy Lindo... Both deserve better material.
They tried to make the show edgy and engaging, but no such luck. Plus side, the ratings are already sliding downhill, so the world will not have to put up with this show for too much longer.

It is kinda sad watching them try to fill the void ER left with all these crap medical shows. Where the hell has all the originality gone? (sigh)

I have avoided this show, despite it having Michelle and being on right before Criminal Minds. Guess I made the right call.

Very sad. NBC needs ratings and ABC has them, because they had a programming block last year that worked. So NBC is trying to be like ABC last year and ABC is trying to be progressive (and I have a longer rant about that...).
"Mercy" could work I think if it didn't rely on so many conventions. Maybe it would've gotten better down the line, but I really don't think it's going to last past its initial order.

I also hate how SVU, Glee, and Criminal Minds are all on at the same time. I usually watch CM on TV, because the CBS online strategy is terrible.

I agree wholeheartedly about CBS making their content available online.
I also agree about the powerhouse booking. Same thing for me on Thursday. Ridiculous. I do need these digital services just to stay caught up every week. Tim Kring's prophecy is coming true... Noooooo!!!

Trauma
I caught the pilot for the other NBC medical show; the guy's solution to ER if you will. "Trauma" is a bunch of frivolous characters and their emotions interchanged with a bunch of "Final Destination"-esque action.
I could give a shit about any character on this show. There's slim pickins here. The one guy I could jive with was Rabbit and that's because he's Cliff Curtis, Arnold Schwarzenegger's sworn nemesis. Everyone else? Forget about it, same old stuff. Girl who lost her boyfriend in a crash, guy who cheated on his wife, rookie helicopter pilot, etc.
However, the pilot opens with a helicopter crash which made all the commercials. I was so bored within the first five minutes of this show, but that crash woke me up.
Before halfway through the episode there's a massive car crash on a freeway. After commercial, a truck in the crash explodes sending shrapnel into a little kid's throat.
I can forgive all the soap opera nonsense for over-the-top B-action like this.
"Trauma" gets a thumbs up from me.
*Only refers to the pilot. I can't speak for the series... yet.
