Good day ladies, gentlemen, and miscellaneous:
Considering that the TGWTG site had over a year to develop, now it would be a good time to discuss about your most (and least) favorite characters.
It doesn't take a genius to realize how easy would be for this topic to escalate into a flame war; however, I'm pretty sure that all (or at least some) members here can be mature enough to share their thoughts without insulting others, or to at least be properly witty about it. Besides, it might help to find common ground.
Without further ado, here's my list:
Most favorite:
- The Nostalgia Critic: Do I even need to explain this one?
- Linkara: His comics reviews are overall entertaining (though I admit there has been a few weak ones here and there as of late) and most of his points about storytelling and art are completely valid. Hell, anyone who rips Liefeld a new one is OK in my book.
- Spoony: Probably one of the biggest snarkers that I've seen in my life, yet at the same being incredibly lovable.
- Phelous: Pretty good riffing of bad to horrible horror movies. My only concern however is this: Does he really talk like that or it's just something that he does for the videos? I'm asking because I'm really afraid to make an offensive remark.
- Little Miss Gamer: Why do I like her? Because she seems like a friendly introduction to gaming in general in contrast to some hardcore gamers out there. Seems like a good choice for causal games to take the next step.
- Jew Mario: We need more people to encourage import gaming.
Least Favorite:
- Film Brain: If Monthy Python, Ashens, and most BBC Sitcoms have taught me is that britist people can be witty and funny. If there's something that Film Brain taught me however is that this isn't always true. And for someone who talks about bad actors, he's pretty lousy at it as well (until then I didn't know it was possible to whisper a scream).
- Distressed Viewer/Amazing Atheist/whatever: I already did a post on him ( http://www.sydlexia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10445 ); I don't feel like repeating myself.
- Angry Joe: I don't really hate him, but rather merely dislike him. I sometimes think he can be horribly biased (his videos about Transformers 2 doesn't help at all). Plus his rant about Chick-Fil-a was stupid.
- MasaVox: He has a good concept going on, but I dunno; there's something about him, but I can't place it right now...
Other:
- Ashens: I know he has a Youtube account, but dang it, this site needs witty funny British reviewers!
- Nostalgia Chick: She's severely underutilizied as of late (I'm guessing RL issues); her last two videos seem overly rushed for that matter.
- Y Ruler of Time: He hasn't updated in a while! NYUUUU!!! Oh wait, he kinda did... Still he's not updating more often!
- And frankly any guy who hasn't done more than 4 videos.
There you have it. Feel free to share your list.

Sure! Me likee this topic.
Love:
Nostalgia Critic. I mean....duh.
Nostalgia Chick: I really wish she was doing more stuff, but I was really happy to see her new video last week. Here's hoping she's back to stay. I'm also glad to see they've gotten out of the "only let her review girly stuff" mode. Although that's funny as hell once in a while, she's way to talented imho to limit to that.
Spoony: He's the only person (besides maybe Doug) who can talk on the internet for half an hour to an hour and keep my interest. Some of his commentary/reviews tend to ramble a bit, but they're almost always entertaining and informative. Some of the stuff on his personal site is even better than what he has on TGWTG.
Little Miss Gamer: I do like her. She's a bit...blah in her delivery (intentionally I suspect), but she does have good commentary, and she does fill quite the gaping void in the game commentary community. She's certainly intelligent and not annoying, and that's enough for me to watch new eps when they come out.
Film Brain: I have to disagree with Atman. I really, really like his stuff. Some of the gags/delvery are a bit forced, but overall, quality work that always makes me laugh. (Now, he's absolutely inferior to "A British Person" who's vblog TGWTG links to, and who reviews horrible old movies. I posted his Wicker Man review on this site somewhere. I really wish they would bring him on board as a regular.)
Do not like:
Angry Joe: I actually liked the first video of his I ever saw, which was something about him going to a restaurant he loved that was closed. That was funny. Then I saw his actual, normal bits, turned off the vid, and haven't started one since. He's just too...something. Loud, annoying, abrasive, and he never makes an actual point.
JewWario: I don't actually mind his stuff per se, but I'm just not on board with the whole JewWario gimmick. Its not that its offensive or anything, I just don't find it particularly funny or entertaining. To me it adds nothing, and if your gimmick adds nothing, its not a worthwhile gimmick.

I only watch some regularly so the ones I do I love
Nostalgia Critic: Been watching since forever I reckon, I even subscribed to his site to get the premium content sadly.
Spoony: I love him but he can be a bit elitist in some of his reviews, "I hate this and I am right"
Nostalgia chick: Really funny and energetic and only complaint is lack of frequent videos, though she is a student so it's expected
LMG: Adorable, nuff said
Linkara: Very funny and reminds me of the people on this board. And good to see a male feminist.
Press start: We loved him first damn it.
With some exceptions, pretty much all of blistered thumbs is gold.
Marzgurl is funny but she is clearly self conscious which makes the videos hard to watch a bit

Folks I like:
Nostalgia Critic/Chester A. Bum/That Guy With The Glasses: Again, duh. It's pretty much his website.
That Dude in the Suede: I miss this guy, his anime reviews were nothing short of pure awesome. Come back soon, Suede.
JewWario: I actually don't see him as using that as a gimmick, I've never seen him even mention either being Jewish or being Wario-like, it's all about the classic import games, and a lot of them look great. (Umihara Kawase in particular, that game is amazing)
Guru Larry and Ashens: I liked both of these guys long before they came to the site, however, I don't really consider them a true part of the site yet, given how little they've produced lately.
Nostalgia Chick: She's done some great reviews, and her dual review with the NC on Fern Gully was hilarious. Plus, she introduced the Big Lipped Alligator Moment.
Linkara: Now, I'm not much of a fan of comic books, I haven't read one since I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. But even though I've never heard of pretty much any of the comics he's reviewing, the way he goes through them, that doesn't even matter. It's always great stuff, especially his big Countdown review.
Paw: I'm by no means knowledgeable about music (go talk to Cap/Fig/Boba about that), but I really liked his Full Circle series, and his more recent gaming music series.
Phelous: He had a really rocky, boring start, but once he found his niche of reviewing cheesy horror movies, I really started liking him.
Team FourStar: DBZ Abridged is truly hilarious, especially for an old DBZ fan like me.
Y Ruler of Time: I love his reviews so far, but this guy seriously needs to update more often...
Folks I don't love, but don't really hate, either...
Benzaie: At least for his Games You Might Don't Know and Game Soundtracks You Might Don't Know, and FAQ You. His other stuff, I'm not as big of a fan of.
Most of the other Blistered Thumbs folks, Spoony, That Chick With the Goggles, Bennet the Sage, Lee, and Angry Joe: Most of their stuff is alright, I'm just not a big fan of any of them.
Film Brain: I like his stuff, when it's about a movie I've seen. The movies I haven't seen, I don't particularly like his reviews of.
Sean Fausz: Epic Fail is mildly fun, but mildly stupid as well.
Distressed Watcher: While I didn't have anything good to say about him in that thread Atman linked to, I have to admit, after watching his second Trailer Failure, I was laughing pretty hard. I'm awaiting further videos to really decide about this guy.
Folks I don't like:
The Game Heroes: I didn't much like Handsome Tom when he was a part of Screw Attack, and when he split off to make his own gaming site, it just made things worse, I think. They just feel like a cheap, less funny rip off of the Screw Attack folks.
Marz Gurl: Right off the bat, I started off not liking her. Her "History of Animation" bit was nothing more than an attack on most current cartoons, and I haven't given her much of a chance since then. The few things I have watched have been fairly boring, she doesn't seem to put much effort or energy into her reviews.

This is going to sound like a cop out but i do like most everyone on the site for various reasons.
-I've been following Spoony long before NC even had a site
-Jew Wario has a lot of interesting things to say about import gaming and i like his mellow and friendly attitude.
-Little Miss Gamer: Why deny it, she cute, hot in a nerdy way and a gamer. That is every geek boy's dream.
-Lee and Dena from still gaming: I like Dena's horror game reviews and her opinion actually makes you think about some of them (like Silent Hill 2). Lee's game reviews are way too short and kind of bland for me but i have to give him props for posting his retrospect on baseball card collecting. I must have watched that like 15 times.
-Paw: I was a huge music geek at one point and find his view of music interesting.
-Linkara: I'm not much of a comic buff but i do find the industry fascinating and to see the flops from the media is really awesome.
Bennett the Sage: It is refreshing to watch Video Game reviews that are not comedic or biasd. He pretty much delivers a through review.
-The D Watcher: I don't know about you guys but this guy is growing on me mainly because he is bitching about trailers and just goes over the top. It's like a very guilty pleasure.
-Film Brain: I know a lot of people don't care for his reviews but i do find appeal in them. At first his videos were dull but they have grown on me.
-Y the Ruler: needs to update more, he has a good thing going
-Marz Girl: I like her reviews because their is a double dose here: she does have interesting commentary but her acting is (so bad it's good).
-Game Heroes: I like them, moving on
-Suede: talking about him makes me sad. I hope he come back.
-Nostalgia Chick: She's like . . . a naughty version of LMG but reviews movies instead of games.
-NC: Yah, the gate way critic on the site.
I could go on forever but I have to give props to Transmission Awesome, the weekly podcast of channel awesome. Those guys are freaking hilarious.
http://www.thatguywiththeglasses.com/podcasts/tranmission-awesome
People i don't view much:
-Sean's Epic Fail: has anyone else seen his videos, they have their moments
-Benzaie: what the heck is he saying. I can't understand him but yet i'm still hooked.
-Phelous: I am not a fan of horror movies so i have no real incentive to watch his videos. Oddly enough though i did watch most of them and look forward to any new ones he releases. My favorite is the Mac and Me review because the movie was not meant to be a horror but really come off as on.
-Angry Joe: Angry Joe at first was someone i didn't mind but since he only 'preview' games of the current gaming era (which i am out of the loop of) it really don't interest me that much. Then he posted his Transformers 2 defense video and before i saw it i just shrugged the movie off after seeing it but then i watch his video and it just unleashed my inner snark and i haven't been able to cage it since.
Here are the only defenses for Bay's Transformers:
-Megan Fox is hot (give me a break, Go see MovieBob's review of Jennifer's body, that sums up my thoughts on her) http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies
-It has great action (if you can see WTF is going on)
-It's a summer pop corn movie (which are a dime a doze for every summer and frankly there is only so much stale popcorn a human being can eat before plunking)
Angry Joe made me angry. Oh god just talking about Joe is setting me up for one of my Transformer Rants so i better stop now. But for those of you who don't care for Joe, go to transmission awesome. Whenever he is co-hosting the show the other hosts tear into him and it is just hilarious.
There maybe others i don't watch much but that's all i've got.
I just love this site, it is my second favorite site as of right now . . . we are on #1.

God I love Spoony. It takes serious fucking balls to go after someone on the same site. (Although, I am a big fan of Bad Movie Beatdown. I just am.)
And a small update, MikeJ has now been added to the site, which is FUCKING AWESOME! I know he's got his little probation period to go through, but that's okay. He's got enough fans to pass with flying colors I think.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't have a rating system. But seriously, he's really lost some internet cred on this one. His article's rating is at 2.77/5, very close to what he gave the movie.

Quick and dirty-
Like:
Nostalgia critic-but not the other skits, like with bum reviews
Little Miss Gamer-very sweet, a nice break from the rant-fest of the internet
Nostalgia Chick-needs moar material
Spoony-I like him better than NC, he's a thoroughbred nerd, opinionated and diverse with a tendency to ramble but in a good way.
Marz girl-Seems a-okay to me.
Linkara-Sometimes he kinda annoys me, but sometimes he writes good stuff. Which sums my feelings for comics really.
Team Fourstar-DBZ abridged is funny. nuf said.
Darkmaze Studios-once again, we had them first, and the skit they did for spoony was gold.
Lee and Dana-They do reviews of videogames... That I like.
Dislike:
The rest-I don't want to watch the rest of these guys, they don't have the output and/or they just rant poorly about things.

I like Sage and the guy who does the "Until we win" segments that go on the front page occasionally. I don't think they are super special or anything but it passes the time to listen to them and their reviews seem pretty fair.

Well the site is supposed to break up into subsites soon which will ease up the clutter I think it was delayed by aussie guy being a whiny cunt.

Exactly where does that happen, because that link just goes to his site and there's so many updates that whatever you're talking about has long since passed.

I do like the "Until we Win" videos as well; it's pretty much shows you that said games aren't impossible, just insanely hard.
My only gripe that his (possible?) catch-phrase has gotten tiresome already; maybe it's just the way he says it:
"You're going to die... A LOT..."

I am actually quite a fan of Trailer Failure, but sometimes he goes on and on.
I watched the Linkara Lets Play of Star Trek: Elite Force and liked it, but then he just up and stopped. I just don't know what to look for in his videos. What does he do?
I am an avid fan of NC as well.

I've recently gotten into Until We Win and like it quite a bit. Its not really funny, but as someone who literally read guides and instruction manuals to games I didn't own (for fun!), I really like it.
Since I've started with the whole comics thing I've started watching Linkara's Atop the Fourth Wall, which is damn good as well. Linkara is a talented guy.

I like UWW too, although, he really does need to break out a thesaurus or somesuch to break up the line of nigh identical phrases he tends to use in his reviews. In addition to the die a lot one, he's got the "Your just going to have to play the hell out of this level" and "old school platforming at its finest" and a few others.
