They're committed to it now and they can never erase it from their history anymore. Thank god they're not dubbing it.

I give all dubs a chance by principle, but I have a very hard time imagining how they would have handled this particular one, especially since half of the game's content is based on stuff that never left Japan.
I woulda liked to see how they would have dubbed Tita Nium. For some reason, I really like her "fuck everything, I want to go home" outlook on life.

Actually, if this is true, it would seem that all the bitching was a waste of time as it was already happening. Either way, this could be a step forward.

The whole "no plans at this time" could very well have meant that they were finishing up and hit a serious problem that stopped them from making a real announcement at the time. That they found themselves unable to ignore the petitioners and they decided to give them lip service speaks well of no one.

apparently amazon was allowing pre orders of some of these games and now people are getting these emails:
| Quote: |
Amazon says Monado shipping out on August 28th
The following emails are being sent out to those that preordered Monado on Amazon...
We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered on month XX 2011 (Order#xxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).
"Monado: Beginning of the World"
Estimated arrival date: August 28 2011
I expect this date to come and go with nothing happening, but I wonder where Amazon is getting this info from! Thanks to onikafei for the heads up! |

I love how this thread is named for The Last Story and the only game people really care about is Xenoblade.

The first post mentioned all three of the non-US RPGs. Blame him for not bothering to include all three in the title.

Yeah, I wanted to include all of them, but I believe there was a limit? Also, I made the thread before it had accelerated into a bigger thing, so it should probably be removed to only "Project Rainfall" or something like that now. However, that name was not widely spread when I first created the thread.

I think people are talking primarily about Xenoblade these days because it's been released in Europe. So even if it's never released here, they'll have the chance to play it in English on a soft-modded Wii.

Yeah, but The Last Story AND Pandora's Tower is also slated for release in Europe next year, so you guys will get to play them as well as long as your fine with softmodding it.

In some kind of beautiful paradox, Nintendo of Europe wants to hear from their fans why Xenoblade Chronicles is so great. Nintendo of America doesn't want to hear why it's so great. Years of rubbing our better selection in Europe's faces are finally catching up with us. I can only conclude one of two things:
- Nintendo of Europe got one nice thing that we didn't and now they have to parade it for as long as people are willing to listen just because there's not a thing we can do about it.
- Nintendo is shifting its focus toward European customers and is trying to phase attention away from America for some reason.
Or the infinitely more boring third option is that these videos are going to be used for an advertising campaign in North America, which means that Operation Rainfail will take credit for something that happened on its own. Which also means that the American release was delayed for reasons beyond Nintendo's control and for whatever reason they couldn't make it public. And it will carry the implication that Europeans deserved this game more.

I think the reason is that the dollar is so weak, making is much harder to profit for an japanese company there. Also, the price for telling why Xenoblade is so good, is a copy of The Last Story and Pandora's Tower. Irony indeed.

Excel, my understanding is that localization decisions are generally made at the divisional level. NOA and NOE look at what they think they can sell and have those games localized.
Historically, there are three reasons that a lot of games weren't localized for Europe:
1. Restrictive regulations regarding violence. (Hence, Probotector and Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles.)
2. Consoles generally entered the European market much later than North America, Australia, and Japan.
3. Localization for Europe is a fucking nightmare, making it a shitty market. Can't you assholes have a giant war and kill each other until you all speak the same language? It doesn't matter which one, so long as it's homogenous.

Localization is only a nightmare because Nintendo insist on releasing games in french, german, spanish, italian etc. I mean, I have never played a game in my mother-language in my life, and I manage to play tons of games regardless. They should just use the american localization all over Europe and be done with it IMO.

This is great news for americans, the game is awesome. The fact that the game gets released worldwide, also make me more hopeful that Nintendo will continue to fund large-scale rpgs from Monolith Soft and hopefully continue to give them western releases.

I still don't get why you're so against NA getting another good game for the Wii. Scratch that, another GOOD RPG. Nintendo just extended the lifespan of my Wii after I eventually finish Skyward Sword.
