Extremely late, but I figured I should put up lavalarva's winning run for last week before I put up what I'm assuming (and almost positive) will be his run for this week...

Don't steal it or anything like that.
I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Sent my run in. Of all the attempts I did, I only beat the first boss once.

Due to procrastination and the fact that I actually have to work on the challenge before it's ready, round 10 will be delayed until... let's say the usual Sunday midnight (technically Monday). Hopefully it'll be done by then.

The first boss is pretty random. He's still ending quite a few of my runs.
EDIT : I have failed my objective, but I managed to beat the fucking bullshit boss, so it'll do. Getting stuck with the crappy gun in the level I suck the most at wasn't fun though.

I think I may have placed first this round.
I tried out everyone, went with one of the guys with the shotguns.
Interesting. Someone actually challenges my win streak. We'll see that in the results
I did my save state run with Billy, so I used him. The shotgun guys seem better at some points in the game but I couldn't get used to them and didn't care for another practice run.

I couldn't beat boss 2 with the first 2 guys, so I picked Bob. I knew the shotgun was better for fighting him.
The pistols are amazing on the first boss, you can kill him on accident. I went with the shotguns for the concentrated fire I needed on the 2nd boss and it's SO much better than the power pistols on the horseback section. SO much better. Took a longer time to figure out how to beat the 1st boss with Bob though.
Second boss is way easier than first boss, you just have to stream most of the time (yes, I consider this game similar enough to use bullet hell terms :O).
I hope your strategy got you further than the second boss though, otherwise I'll kick your ass

Boss 3 trampled me. At least once with his horse That's where my run ended.
I was drilling boss 2 on one of my Saves and finally killed him. That Save was with the pistol with zero lives left. Once I took him out with a single line of shots I knew I could get him with the shotgun. Two runs later I had got to the 3rd boss, who I didn't really have time to practice(got there around 10:30pm today probably) and did the best I could.
Ghandi, I still have trouble with the first boss. He's genuinely hard, the hardest boss until stage 6 IMO.
You should have practiced the third boss because he's really easy. Second easiest boss in the game
Anyway, here's my run. Shooting around for no reason is a vital part of my strategy by the way

The way the pistol splits fire makes boss 1 a lazy affair, really. He's much tougher with the shotguns. You just have to keep positioning yourself to fire the off shot at the windows the lackeys are coming out of. They alternate windows which makes it easy One reason I switched to the shotgun was because he died too fast. I didn't have time to kill all his minions before I killed him with the pistols.
I discovered the hard way falling barrels hurt. The first time on boss 1. I avoided them quite a bit after that.
Right and left handed up with the shotgun isn't a huge difference, but you kinda spray out where they're about to come out and go back to unloading on him/the barrels. They slow the fight down so you actually do get to kill all the minions first. I did find dodging him, at times, harder than boss 2, but not enough to put me off the shotgun.
I'm a shotgun player anyway. I pick it all the time in first person shooters.
In this game it is does wonders to spray it everywhere, like you said "a vital part" of your strategy In open areas of towns it does a much better job of killing things, at least for me. It's also a better gun if you die, since you still get a pseudo spray out of it.
So, for those 6 and a half reasons, I'm demoting you to co-pilot.
....Futurama reference....
Anyway, that's why I went with the shotgun over the pistol even though early on the pistol looked best.
The shotgun isn't useful for open areas in towns, those are super easy no matter what. I only pondered using the shotgun because it makes that fucking Indian way easier to beat.
