Scam, I'm surprised you remembered my disliking for Huey but forgot my severe hatred for Springsteen
Though these are all very good ideas, and CCR would actually be pretty cool. My favorite (and I'm sure I could get at least Syd's backing on this ) is 'Up Around The Bend' but something like 'Heard It Through The Grapevine' or 'I Put A Spell On You' (both covers, I know) could work as intense jam tunes.

I'd say a heavy metal version of Mr. Sandman the 1950's song |
Now that I think about it, this seems like a pretty cool idea. |
It does!

I would definitely approve of Creedence, especially 'Lookin' Out My Back Door." I have difficulty with the chords for that one, but can play the solo (on guitar, not bass, not enough strings on bass) pretty good.
As far as Springsteen goes, if there's no saxophonist, I could play the sax solo on the bass. It'd have to be a string lower until I get a 5-string, though. :/
As for Huey Lewis, their early work was a bit too New Wave for my taste, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, both commercially and artistically.

I'd have to look back, but I was thinking there were a few people here who could play sax. Clarence Clemons is probably my favorite sax player when it comes to rock bands.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but the Stones would also be a good band to cover for this project.

I was thinking 'Sympathy For The Devil', mostly because I was amazed at how much work and different layers I had to put into my version. And the 'hoo-hoo' thing is SO much fun!

Good call to both the Lexia Bros. Yeah, everyone disregard AC/DC, since you've all been voting for them anyway

"Head Like A Hole" by Nine Inch Nails. You could theoretically fit a lot of instruments into the intro, and, well, it's a damn good song.

I'd say Liquid Tension Experiment - Universal Mind, but that leaves all out vocalist friends out
#edit: Unless we write words for them to sing or chant over it!

I'm impressed hacker. Really.
War Pigs would be decent, especially the ending, we could have everyone in and make just a big fuckin' ruckus.

I think it offers the most creative freedom from all the artists.
There is just so much going on in that song.

From the looks of it, we're looking at a Sabbath song. But I'll post a new poll, with a few Sab songs to choose from, and Bad Obsession as a wildcard haha
