I saw it and was indifferent about it. It felt like family guy, but without memorable characters.

well, its the first episode. so those characters might develop and evolve after several episodes.
i mean, quagmire + the rest didnt really become big characters until late in the first season or early the second season. and their personas werent very memorable until later.

I've been seeing the previews for it during NFL games, and while I'm a pretty big Family Guy fan, this show doesn't look funny at all. I totally get Seth McFarlane's humor and laugh at almost everything in FG, but the trailers I saw for Cleveland made it look bland, boring, and unfunny.

I only caught the first 9 minutes of the first episode when I had to go out to smoke, but yeah, seems a lot of lame "lol black people" jokes are gonna be thrown around. May have potential, may burn into the ground. I'll keep watching, I guess.
I'd still rather them do the occasional FG/American Dad crossover, though.

I love how in the joke, in which they said that white writers try to understand black culture, they cut to a show that WASN'T the Cleveland Show.

I'm willing to give the show a chance. The setup was weak, but now that it's set up, it could end up improving. I didn't care for the first few episodes of American Dad, but now I like it better than Family Guy.

Just noticed this post. Joe said his son died in Afghanistan or something during the Stew-roids episode I believe.

If Family Guy can have a spin-off then The Simpsons could have a spin-off staring Carl & Lenny, or Moe.

The Simpsons have dedicated a few episodes to minor characters. Plus i don't really like the idea of a Simpsons spin off of characters that started off on the simpsons, especially now that the show has been on for 21 seasons. Another spiritual spin-off like Futurama would be welcomed though.

I just saw it and it was horrible. The lame falling bathrub joke had to be used...how fucking original! Also a talking bear, give me a break. Brian may be a talking dog but he is part of the family, not a neighbor. Also all the kids annoyed the hell out of me. The ONLY bit I liked was when the neighbor gives Cleveland the fist pound and says you have to blow it up, mostly because I know people that do that.
Overall this show is horrible so far, how long until this shit turns into The Skid and Mudflap Show?

like syd pointed out, american dad took several episodes to find its stride, so hopefully this will be the same

For someone who seems to find Family Guy so dumb and offensive you sure seem to like watching Seth's shows.
I thought it was alright for a pilot, and it definitely wasn't as racist as I thought it was going to be. Also why CAN'T there be a Nieghborhood bear? Brian can date women and drive a car but a bear living in the nieghborhood isn't believable?

I still watch the shows because there is hardly anything else on. The second episode was pretty poor as well. Hopefully it gets better.

Okay, question: Did Cleveland always make really unfunny jokes and then immediately laugh at them? Cuz I don't remember that happening at all on Family Guy. Then again, maybe I don't remember him doing that because IT'S NOT FUCKING FUNNY. And he's done it constantly throughout both episodes so far. It's fucking annoying.
Seth McFarlane, just because you've successfully discovered one of the typical mannerisms of dull, middle-aged parents, doesn't mean that it can be successfully exploited for comedic purposes. If I don't laugh when my mom makes corny jokes that aren't funny, why the fuck would I laugh when Cleveland does it?

He has to talk faster, otherwise they'd be trying to cram a whole story into 15 minutes, and then trying to stretch that 15 minutes out to 22 minutes.

They really should have gave thr show to Quagmire instead.
Most of the FG episodes that revolved around him, I really enjoyed.

I agree, plus he is a much more interesting character. They had a dumb cut-away on the latest Family Guy where he thought he got the spin-off. Still they should have given it to him.

Family Guy does nothing for me as a cartoon/ or adult alternative. It's simply flashback after flashback of shit 90% of your viewers have never even heard of. ques: why is stewie acting "gay"? he's a toddler 4or goddness sakke. I'm just waiting for clevland to get off the air so they can bring back that overly racist show "The Boondocks".
Also why so anti-semtic this season!?! no more conway twitty bits?
Gah. i need a drink.

I actually enjoyed Family Guy and Cleveland so far. I thought it was funny when Quagmire thought he was getting his own show, and the fact that he had no idea what the internet was. Also Cleveland jr. saying if he walked from there he would get sweat under his man breasts, then he pulled up about 5 feet. I saw it coming but it was still funny.
Maybe it's because of al the negativity directed towards it and I thought it was going to be horrible. Then again I could give to shits about religion so they never really offend me.

Yeah I gotta say, I'm not a big fan of Family Guy or American Dad, but I watched the new episodes and they were pretty good. So maybe McFarlane has to have at least one shit show at any given time, cause Cleveland is nothing but a family guy rehash with a displeasingly racist undertone and a tired feeling of having seen it all before.
