I thought so too. Do you honestly think it got a fair shake? Even if the ratings were low, they should have let it play out. Now the people who watched it are all left scratching their heads. |
that happens all the time though. remember john doe? its not the firs ttime a show just ends when it has many many unresolved issues.

I don't think traveler got a fair shake, but I also don't know if they could have kept it going. Every episode ended with such an intense cliffhanger that for the next 7 days, that was all you thought about. That's hard to do every week I imagine.

When it comes to FOX, that's how I feel almost every time something new is aired. I dare not watch something new on FOX because 9/10 it will not even get to finish it's season nomatter how hyped it was. That's another thing about FOX what pisses me off, it doesn't real let sitcoms last for atleast a season and any new fans of the show are left with cliff hangers and what-the-hell happened. I'm not saying FOX is the only one that practices this but it is the network that is most popular for it.
Another grip i have is reality shows and how FOX seems to have some real stinkers lately. The network spend more time coming up with the next big shocking experiance when it could focus more time into it's sitcoms. Let's face it, if it wasn't for family guy and the simpson, FOX would have died like the WB.

FOX is retarded in general. They moved Greg the Bunny's time slot at least twice then cancelled it because the ratings sucked. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MOVE A SHOW AROUND!
They rarely give shows a fair shake. Firefly, Dark Angel, and Point Pleasant all could have been minor hits if given a proper chance. Other shows survive simply because their producers are currently in favor with the network. Millenium lasted three seasons due to the success of the X-Files, while American Dad continues to coast through existence due to the godlike status of Family Guy.
Hell, FOX didn't even give Reunion a real chance. The show was supposed to last one season comprised of twenty episode, with each episode revealing new clues in a murder twenty years in the making, but FOX bailed out halfway through. If they had let the show run its course, they would have been able to put out a DVD set and turn a profit on the show, ratings or not. But no, FOX is too goddamned stupid for something like that.

I could understand American Dad filling the gap left when Family Guy got canceled, but why is it still around now? It's the same fucking show for all intents and purposes.

I'm hoping one day FOX will fade into oblivion (like the WB) and i'm hoping it will be a week after both American Idol and the Simpsons are "retired". Other then family guy, i cannot image other show that have cared FOX for so long because most of the show don't even get a chance for the network to parasite off of them.
And Reunion is an excellent example of FOX's retardedness. The show did have a following and it was not even planed for another season. What the hell else was important during that time slot that FOX couldn't just let the show run the course and like you have pointed out Syd, mooch off a DVD set release. What about arrested development? That show had a lot of praise and it was still off the air, which i mindboggoling because weren't the rating fair. Family Guy is the rare case when FOX actually listens to people bitching and say "okay, we f-up"

I don't want to see Fox go down until House has finished its run. Its easily one of my favorite shows ever. Even though its not as good as it was when the series started, I don't think it has jumped the shark yet and still has potential.

I don't think Traveler really could have stayed around more than a season, maybe two due to the fact that it was essentially like a long movie or maybe even a mini-series with just enough content to last a whole season. But with a show like this, where there has to be a demand because of loose ends, combined with a lot of garbage that gets played on some station in several hour blocks, it makes me wonder why no stations would be more interested in picking up a show like this, as well as others.
As far as the cliffhangers, Lost has been doing a good job at keeping the cliffhangers coming for 4 seaons now. And although it has wore out its welcome, 24 always did a good job of that as well. So I think at least for one full season, maybe two, Traveler would have been alright.

Las Vegas - I wasn't a fan. It's supposed to crossover finale with some other show I heard.
Back To You - It was only alright.
Moonlight - I taped so many episodes and watched none of them. I'm sure I would've loved this show had I watched it.
New Amsterdam - Taped the pilot, never watched it.
Jericho - I wasn't a fan. It should've spent its renewal more wisely.
Shark - James Woods! Noooooo!!!! But again, never watched it. In theory I miss it.
K-Ville - It was a FOX action show. Those are always good. I know there's a lot of FOX hate going on in this thread, but I'll defend them. They don't ruin every show despite whatever cockamamie beliefs are floating around in here.
Bionic Woman - I watched a couple of episodes and it was like Heroes and half as good. As you may recall I was luke warm to those early episodes of Heroes. I don't mind BW going away.
1 vs. 100 - I actually don't know this show off the top of my head.

No, it's a new series premiering in the fall. Check out Ask Ausiello on TV Guide to find out what I'm failing to remember.
