Good shows with short runs, bad shows with long runs.

Funny story, According to Jim wasn't supposed to air this season. The network didn't pick up its contract, effectively cancelling it. Then they realized they didn't have enough shows, so they brought it back for a 7th season.

I watched it a couple times when they decided to air it before Lost and back when Knights of Prosperity was on (another show cancelled before it's time) and it wasn't so bad. It ain't Seinfeld, but it had some decent jokes and it was watchable. But then again, I love Courtney Thorne-Smith. I would fuck her so hard.

Why not pick up the George Lopez Show? Now that show had 3 extremely doable girls. masiela Lusha Constance Marie and Aimee Garcia.

Big second to that. I loved the hell out of that show, even though everyone else I know who watched it HATED IT with a passion. I still don't know why. Was it the premise? It was so innocent.

Mortal Kombat should have been ended after the first show. The acting was so awesomly terrible, and complete disregard for following canon. They could have saved alot of trouble and murdered all the characters on the first episode.

"Shut up"
The controversy involving The Angry Beavers first started in 1998 when "Alley Oops!", a story in the series' 24th episode (seen during its 2nd season), contained the following lines:
Dag: "You stink!"
Norb: "Oh, shut up, Dag!"

After its first airing, a viewer anonymously complained about the phrase "shut up" in a Nick program, although it had been used by Dag twice in the episode "Go Beavers" in Season One. The second time the episode was aired,"shut up" was bleeped out. This bleep generated more controversy surrounding the show, as some mistakenly thought that it had vulgar language in the dialogue. However, between airings, Nickelodeon changed Norbert's line to "Shush up, stupid!" It was the first time any Nicktoon had a line changed between airings.

Bye Bye Beavers
The final straw was when the developers of the show came up with what was to be its final episode, titled "Bye Bye Beavers." The plot consisted of Norbert being told that he's part of a TV series that has been canceled, and that he has to convince Daggett that they were not real, only cartoon characters.

According to Micah Wright, a staffer who wrote several of the episodes for the show, Nickelodeon rejected this episode, as it ridiculed the company's practice of profiting off re-runs instead of new episodes. This episode also disobeyed a rule Nickelodeon imposed on its shows: never point out that the show has ended.

Bye Bye Beavers was never aired and after reviewing the episode, Nickelodeon canceled the series.

I agree with most so far, but as far as shows that didn't run long enough, I have to add John from Cincinnati. I loved that show. Also Aeon Flux.

As far as shows that have/had been on too long: any VH1 dating piece of shit, TRL (10 second clips of music followed by screaming assholes), American Idol, that Blue Collar comedy show, and Mad TV.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Didn't Rocko's Modern Life have a scene that implied masturbation and parents complained about it?

Don't get me started on Nick Arcade and the super talented Phil Moore. That show was doomed when they wouldn't change any of the games. Almost every episode included King of the Monsters. And it got picked EVERY TIME!

Bobby's World deserves a revival.

Tiffani Thiessen? Then you should totally check out "What About Brian"... wait a minute, WHAT ABOUT BRIAN!!! That should've gotten a third season. The second season was fantastic.

IDK, Ghostwriter the later years just weren't that good from what I recall. Then again, there were a ton of replacement characters, so that might have been it.

Just off the top of my head, Invasion and Traveler. Shows like this at least deserve some closure. Even Jericho always seems to be in danger of being cancelled. But shows like The Biggest Loser are huge (no pun intended). I realize not everybody liked those shows. But they were interesting and had a level of intrigue about them. But I guess not enough people watched. So somebody please explain why nobody wants to watch these shows, but millions of people will tune in every week to watch some obese people try and lose weight? Hey I'm all for what they are doing. But keep it off my tv.

A few more off the top of my head are Rome and Deadwood. John from Cincinnati seemed alright. Even if it wasn't, it can't be any worse than Def Poetry. The Critic and My So-Called Life didn't last long enough.

I could go on all day, so I'll go ahead and list some that were on too long. Reality shows that are on in place of quality tv are poisoning this country. American Idol I can live with. Rockstar: INXS/Supernova I can live with. The idea is okay, even though it fails at times. But I'm talking about shows that just don't matter. At least with the above mentioned, someone is getting a record contract. What do I get out of shows like Dancing with the Stars, or Survivor, that, not only have outstayed their welcome, but have multiple seasons in a year. I mean look at this crap. Its only been on since 2000, but is already in its 16th season. Can't we at least limit this garbage to once a year?

Anything on MTV/VH1 and thier obsession with celebrities living in unison, celebrities porking a handful of freaks, all vying for the chance at love, not-celebrities, who didn't even win the celebrity bacheloresque show, who now have their own shows, celebrities going to rehab, celebrity has beens, never weres, and at best, c listers in general, and all 72 of their dating programs. Once a channel devoted to non stop music videos has been reduced to Love Connection for Generation Next. Would it kill you to play some a-ha or some Duran Duran once in a while? I can only watch the same episode of Pimp my Ride so many times and I'm not sure why its playing on 6 "music" channels at the same time in 4 hour blocks.

PS The Real World, the show we all have to thank for this garbage, is still on after 19 proud seasons.

Another show that stayed on way too long was Saved by the Bell: The New Class. Even after Zack Morris and company were long gone from the Halls of Bayside High, Belding had to oversee a constant changing group of students roming the halls. This show has had more members than Menudo.

Thirded. I still catch it when it airs on the new Nicktoons channel.

People are stupid though. I guess one call = one billion calls, so one billion people were offended... Rolling Eyes

One show that has been on forever and I hope never ends is Law & Order. The great thing about this show and its spin offs is that you can always find one of them playing on some channel at almost any time of the day. And since there are so many different episodes, you can watch it all of the time and almost never see the same episode twice.

I only hope L&O stays on the air, because every actor in the world from the last ten years has been on that show. It's become traditional that every aspiring actor has to be on the show.

Exactly. Last night (I think it was last night anyways), I watched an episode of SVU from last year that Melissa Joan Hart (Clarissa Explains It All/Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and Kyle Gallner (Big Love/Veronica Mars/but most importantly for me, Bart Allen aka Impulse from Smallville) both on it. But I didn't even realize who he was at first. He looks so much like a long lost Culkin brother, and there are so many of those kids, that I wondered who the hell he was. It wasn't until almost the end that it clicked who he was. I looked it up to make sure it was him. It was the second time he had been on the show, both times playing different characters.
