I'll have to check those sites out. There are definitely PS2 games you can get NIB on Amazon for rather cheap. Obviously as time goes on, that list dwindles, but many of the later PS2 games were apparently really overproduced.

I remember there was this game that was a mix of hack-and-slash and stealth gameplay, that looked like a pre-cursor to God of War back in the day. I think it was notable for its time for having a simplified combat system and a style reminiscent of Conan the Barbarian. Does anyone know what game I might be talking about?

Doesn't predate God of War, but God Hand is a very beloved game in some circles. I don't know if it has stealth elements though. Other notable hack n' slash games from the PS2 that may or may have had stealth elements:

The Mark of Kri
Rise of the Kasai (definitely has stealth elements)
Oni
Rygar: The Legendary Adventure

Mark of Kri was it. I remember seeing it reviewed on Extended Play back on TechTV, and the combat and art looked interesting.

I've wanted to play Eternal Poison since I first saw it, but it's always been around $40.

How is that Rygar game, anyone played it? The NES game was great other than the unfair respawning of enemies. My roommate I had in the army like eight years ago had a game I believe was called Colossum: Road To Freedom, and it surprised the shit out of me. I figured it would be some generic game but turned out that it was fun. But I haven't played it since then so I'm not sure how it would hold up for me now.

Right now my stepson and I have been playing Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsonal, and it's fantastic. I've actually played through it once myself and once with him, and halfway through the second game on both our games. I love upgrading the weapons and almost all the upgrades are meaningful and really change the way you can use the weapons.

The PS2 Rygar game has an aggregate score of 83/100 on MetaCritic. That seems promising.

Sorry for my absence the past few days, I understand how hard it must have been for all of you to move on without my posts. I've been sick the past few days and just been laying in bed feeling like shit. So fear no longer, I'm back with more boring, pointless posts!! No, no, please, its my pleasure. Whatever it takes to keep my fans happy.

Seriously though, I am happy to be able to enjoy the forum again, and I have some news. I played FFX last night for the firt time, and I absolutly love it! Tidus could have used a better voice actor, but otherwise I find it very enjoyable. I have a diverse taste in RPG's, so the next game I get will most likely be Persona 3 or 4, not sure which yet. Also, I would highly recommend going to JJGAMES for most of your video game needs. You can get games used for cheap(for the most part) and from my experience, limited as it might be, I haven't had any problem with the condition so far. I know I've only purchased one game so far but I plan to get many more. FFX is an old game, and
under the condition description it read 'good'. When I got it two days after being shipped it was immaculate, not a scratch at all. You can also get some games with the box and instructions if available, but I chose not to. I don't mean to plug an advertisement, but I did want to share this with all of you in case you planned on buying online. They are cheap, fast, efficient, and they have a damn good selection. The have games and consoles as far back as the NES I believe, although some of that category might be a bit more expensive as it's so old and tough to find in good condition. I checked the price on Max Payne on JJGames and it was only like $2.50 compared to around $10.00 on another site I was looking over. You can do your own comparisons if you want but I am highly satisfied.

Just thought I would share that with everyone in case no one has heard of JJGAMES and was looking for some deals. Hope all of you are doing good, I've missed the forums strangely enough. You guys are cool as fuck, and for a family man who has tffrouble
getting out with actual people that means a lot. This and soon hopefully another forum will be a couple things I really look forward to during an intense day of watching screaming kids.

Rygar for PS2 is pretty kickass. It's a 3D action-platformer with a lot of Metroid-y exploration. In fact it's probably what the 3D Castlevanias should've been.

I have to say, I found it to be pretty mediocre...maybe a little above. The voice-overs are horrendous, however. Laughing

Samurai Legend Mushashi is also an okay game...not great, but if you can pick it up for under $5 it's a decent time-waster.

Gladius and Shadow of Rome are a couple others worth checking into.

I also just got around to playing Psychonauts, and it's really good. If you haven't already played it elsewhere I would recommend it. Might be expensive, though.

God, my last post was a mess. I was on a combination of barbituates and opiates for my headaches and I was feeling great, so I came on here posting under some heavy influence. I have to break these pills into quarters just so I can function normally. Anyway, my apologies.

I have really enjoyed FFX though, only complaint so far is that it's been rather linear.

That's disappointing to hear about Rygar... Although voice acting isn't everything, when it's downright terrible it really hurts the overall experience for me.
