Apparently one of the reasons behind the choice is that there aren't a lot of games set during the American Revolutionary War.

Yeah, I really like the use of grey, more grey, and then even more grey. That's daring.

If you do, I'd recommend playing 2 first. You'll miss integral story overall, but the pacing is better as well as combat abilities and the setting actually changes. If you enjoy it, then try out the first. It's slow but when it first came out, it really changed my view on rogue-style gaming.

I was hoping for a current time AC game, but this Revolutionary War setting sounds promising.
Also, stay tuned for Assassin's Creed 5: Snake Eater. A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 where Solid Snake is an assassin and the Cobra Unit are all templars.

There had been speculation that AC3 would take place in Egypt. The box art switched the setting to America during the Revolutionary War. That was the reason why the box art was meaningful.
As for the speed of development. I have no problem with it. At least each game is a full huge story unlike certain other games (BF/CoD) that come out every year with barely any way to know that an update even happened.

Game Informer content has been released, http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Connor is the main character. Boston, New York and the frontier are the settings, which confuses me because Washington is an ally but they left Philadelphia out. Oh well.
http://kotaku.com/5889507/why-a-colonial-assassins-creed-makes-complete-sense-and-sounds-awesome Also can't argue with a lot of points made here, but one thing I would like to note is that templars are masons, and Washington is one of the most iconic masons in American history. I smell a double-cross.
[SPOILER:5806fdc033]Hopefully the final edit, confirmed info about AC3 here:
-Environmental changes (ie. sunlight, darkness, weather, seasons)
-Chain kills
-Combat revamp (I assume they mean less jumping off of/out of things and more guerrilla style, which bugs me a bit )
-Ability to climb trees and scenery, animals can be attacked and pelts harvested for a revamped economic system
-Human shields
-No more locking on to targets
-Animus version 3.0
-Rewards for 100% missions, checkpoints during missions so missions no longer have to be entirely replayed (FINALLY)
-Three areas, each being about 1.5x the size of the entire map in Brotherhood[/SPOILER:5806fdc033]

For what it's worth, some of us actually have family within the Masons.

All the masons I've never known in my life have been notoriously racist, anti-Catholic, anti-semetic and just plain awful. I know film and books like to romanticize the group, but whatever. I'm sure there are great people out there that are masons, blah blah.

Ever consider that Washington might be part of the Brotherhood? Motherfucker was like Batman! As for Masons themselves, we've got a ton of them out here, but we usually just call them Mormons.

The only reason I brought it up is because it has relevance to the story. Dunno why anyone is flipping out about it, I don't see anyone bitching about the direct canon of any other story that has ties to real life groups.

He is part of the Brotherhood as indicated by all of the info we have on the game, the double-cross is my thoughts on it.

See, that's totally ruining it for me. Here's my vision: George and Connor, back to back after getting off in Valley Forge, surrounded by Redcoats. Then, they break out the axes, and while Connor's chopping the shit out of some British oppressors, George hurls his and it hits a tree, causing the Redcoats to laugh and underestimate him. They raise their muskets as George draws his Colichemarde saber and charges with reckless abandon. But oh shit! That's when the Redcoats hear a massive cracking sound; while he was distracting them, it becomes apparent that George actually hit the tree hard enough to make a radial crack right through that fucker, and there it goes, crushing a line of d-bags with wigs and horrific dental hygiene. When the dust clears, Connor and George do a leaping high-five, and George says, "Keep that up, kid, and you might end up with your face on the five dollar bill someday." And they laugh, so hard they laugh, covered in all that blood.
I would buy that fucking game so fast.

I wish Valley Forge was in it. Philadelphia and Delaware aren't slated to be in the game unfortunately There likely will be scenes like that, on horseback though.

Being PA born, that saddens me a little. Still, seeing GW and an assassin do a leaping high five while riding horses... I think I'm sold. Connor should have some sort of Colonial flag on him, though, or at least an eagle-shaped grapple line or something. Keep it Amurrrrrrican. Also, definitely could imagine a Sleepy Hollow tie-in if Connor lops the head off of a certain Hessian...

The symbol on the back of his hood is the bald eagle, in keeping with the avian symbolism of past relatives. Personally would've loved to scale Betsy Ross' place or City Hall, but I'll take some Tea Party action.

First thing that came to mind when I read this:
| Quote: |
Cuz I'm a fast motherfucker,
Let me tell you 'bout it sucker,
Said if you fuck with me, I'll fuck your mother,
Your sister, too, and your best girlfriend,
Then I'll line 'em up, and put 'em end to end,
And then I'll put (stick) it in, I'll pull it out,
I'll grab your face and then I'll cum in your mouth.
It tastes good, don't it?
It tastes good, HUH
And you know it, OW! |
Not really sure why, but I'm guessing it is because you were talking about fucking a bunch of Masons.

The third to the last picture got a song stuck in my brain: "One of these things is not like the other...". Looking badass or no, you'd think that an assassin in that era would try to blend in a little better than looking like a blond-haired Native with at least three open weapons (flintlock pistol, hatchet [not tomahawk, note the lack of a wedge-shaped head], and bow and arrow).
Edit: Nope, I'm wrong, apparently it is a tomahawk (the rear spike and the curling leather wrap should've tipped me off), but still, it's more like a battle axe with the curving head, or perhaps even something similar to a farasa minus the recurve on the back of the head and minimised cutting area. I think they sacrificed functionality a little for stylistics on that one, but the buckskin duster could've told me that.

This looks fucking amazing. I can't wait to be sitting my ass in the 17th century eating crumpets and drinking tea. I hope you can customise your character, i will give mine a monocle and cane stick.
