That's a hell of a statement. I'd probably rank 'music snobbery' at like 52,437 on my list.

#1 most useless thing human beings have ever come up with? Oh I don't know, maybe something like racism.

Or maybe single-ply toilet paper.

I like it because it's enjoyable music. I don't give a fuck if it's produced, or backed up or part of some illicit corporate conspiracy.

Does it sound good? Yes. Does it get me excited when I listen to it? Yes.

Then that's all that matters. Music snobbery is the most useless thing human beings have ever come up with in my opinion. People take something that's fun and enjoyable to certain people, then give you bullshit reasons all day as to why they dislike it, such as "Reciting predictable clones of whatever the most marketable styles going happen to be." What the fuck does that even mean? You don't even know. It's OK just to say, "Sorry, I'm just not into it" just like I do when I tell people that I just don't get AC/DC. It's not for any bullshit, made-up corporate reason; their stylings and riffs just don't get my soul excited on a visceral level.

It's not cool to be difficult to please or "discerning"; you're just being douchebags at the end of the day. I'm not necessarily going after you personally Rake, but the whole notion of music snobbery gets me going and your posts definitely qualify as such.

Panda, while you've labeled it as snobbery, I cant quite understand why its alright for you to have and voice your own feelings and opinions about music, yet I cannot.

Music has been an enormous force in my life from quite literally the date of my birth and onwards. My dad was a jazz musician, I was always around music, and began to play at a very young age. I've devoted years of my life toward the study of music, and its industry. Now, I dont mean to launch into a whole This Is Your Life tangent, trying to preach how awesome I am, However -Telling me that I dont know what I'm talking about simply because you dont or wont understand it, and then telling me what reasons I'm allowed to use for not liking something is far closer to "snobbery" than my factual statements. If you re-read my post you might notice I never encroached upon your right to listen and enjoy whatever you like. In fact I quite blatantly stated as such.

To use the McDonalds analogy again, its like eating a cheeseburger. Theres nothing wrong with eating mass-manufactured food, but its silly to do so under the illusion that there is any complexity or nutritional value in it. Its quickly made, simple, easily accessible, and they're churned out like a factory process. This is how they are designed, and thats what they are. It seems childish to insist on claiming that theres anything more going on, just becuase you really like it.

If thats what gets you going, fantastic. You've every right to enjoy whatever the fuck you like. Again, I've at no point tried to remove that right from you, so dont presume to tell me that my feelings and opinions about the same thing are wrong just because you somehow feel threatened or afflicted by my views.

At least it's a wall of text with substance. I have to agree with Rake here. He never said a person can't like a certain type of music...he was just giving his opinion on this band. That's what a lot of this forum is about...giving opinions on shit.

Thank you, I also gave my opinion but got bashed. I just truly hate this sound of music, sounds like a way to just get music from whiny 16 year olds.

I think it's really good, but then again, I'm a big MCR fan.

Well, their album was released Friday (although I stupidly thought it was going to be released Monday).

I'm actually on my way to Best Buy to get it. Can't wait!

EDIT: Reading comprehension fail; it IS released on Monday. It was released yesterday overseas. Looks like I'll be chilling 'til Monday then.

Got it on my lunch break.

So far after one listen, it's a fun album. Some of the better songs are "Sing", "Vampire Money". and "Planetary (GO!)"

I'm going to give it a couple of more listens, but so far, it's been a great buy.

I think the album is pretty solid, I'm enjoying it. However, the order for me is the first album, then the second, then the third and this one are tied. I miss the angst...THE ANGST! The darker side of them was always what I liked, call it emo or whatever, but I like it! Woooooo!
