that was my first studio ghibli movie, and have been a fan ever since.

i saw hateful 8 the other night via some pirate stream on putlocker.is, and that was a dope fucking movie. i know some people just hate tarantino in general, but this movie was fucking badass

^I need to get off my ass and go check out The Hateful 8 already.

Saw The Big Sleep recently. 1946 film noir, Humphrey Bogart. Very interesting, and great acting, but holy shit was it difficult to follow. I had to follow the Wikipedia plot summary as the movie progressed (and apparently plot confusion was one of its main critiques upon release, so I feel a bit less emasculated), but still recommend it.

I saw Hateful Eight on 70mm super panavision, and that blew my freaking mind. Not sure I would have had the same reaction watching some janky putlocker stream, but to each their own, username.

John Waters' Cry-Baby. I hadn't seen it in ages and the first time I saw it I had never heard the phrase "blue balls" before. It was nice to see Traci Lords and young Johnny Depp again.

Watched Rogue One , X-Men: Apocalypse and Independence Day 2 recently:

Rogue One: Better than I expected, might watch it again later. But I thought the same of VII and still haven't felt like re-watching that one. I want a cut of the movie with just the robot and the blind guy. And cartoon Tarkin was horrendous. They really should have just found a lookalike.

X-Men: Had some fun moments in it. Lots of dumb moments, too... I don't know why they keep making Nightcrawler so effete. Liked the girl that played Storm. They should have kept in the extra mall scene, when Sophie Turner is compared to Boy George.
I really hope Jennifer Lawrence is done for good, because she is awful in these movies.

Independence Day 2: I expected nothing but ended up enjoying some of it. The stuff with Brent Spiner, mostly. Also Bill Pullman's acting was awful (and hilarious). Started as a disheveled, doddering old coot and went to totally-with-it, respectable ex-president. |

I feel like i am the only person that found that Wonderwoman is just a mediocre superhero movie (at best!). I really see nothing outstanding in it but yeah... people seem to get super excited about it...

Last movie actually watched was the Last Jedi. Well... i didn't like it except for some few scenes.

It was fascinating in Mark Ruffalo's character to see the change when an entire individual sees himself all things considered and sees the hole that is filled, ie the entire is modified, that is, everything is far and away superior. At that point, the gap will suck in. That edgy call to Julian Moore's character was such a summit point

Just watched Netflix's offering of an Extended Version, which splits the movie into four episodes with additional content. I enjoyed it! I definitely understand most folks' issue with the pacing, but I continue to enjoy the character interactions that embody Tarintino's films. The replay of the scene where the first group of characters arrive at the cabin, from the second group's perspective, was great.

Also, found this non-spoilers tidbit from Wikipedia downright silly:

| Wikipedia wrote: |
| The guitar destroyed by Russell's character was not a prop but an antique 1870s Martin guitar lent by the Martin Guitar Museum. According to sound producer Mark Ulano, the guitar was supposed to have been switched with a copy to be destroyed, but this was not communicated to Russell; everyone on the set was "pretty freaked out" at the guitar's destruction, and Leigh's reaction was genuine, though "Tarantino was in a corner of the room with a funny curl on his lips, because he got something out of it with the performance." Museum director Dick Boak said that the museum was not told that the script included a scene that called for a guitar being smashed, and determined that it was irreparable. The insurance remunerated the purchase value of the guitar. As a result of the incident, the museum no longer lends guitars to film productions. | |

The degree to which Jennifer Jason Leigh gets the shit beaten out of her in that movie made me genuinely uncomfortable.

Yeah, I agree it's brutal, and I understand it's a point of contention. Can't say that it made me uncomfortable[i], as I generally expect Tarantino's films to be over-the-top. But, it is indeed ironic how [i]comfortable (or maybe rapid) I was in reaching that conclusion. Funny how desensitization works...
