Well, this game just got released here, and I hope to get the Limited/Collectors/whatever Edition, or I'll have no motivation to get this game for a while.

So my copy of LoZ arrived today. I guess it missed some shipping scans. I will hopefully boot it up today before going to my uncle's house.

So...I picked up a new Wii today and my Walmart's last collector's edition copy (We had some excellent sales. The Wii was $99 and the CE Skyward Sword was standard copy price). I'm so excited to play this now!

What's the deal with the $99 Wii? I heard that it doesn't play Gamecube games?

So, after some play time, I am going to flat out say it. This game rocks once you get into the first dungeon. Getting there was 4 hours of tedious babysitting by Nintendo, however it was worth every minute to get things ramped up and going.

Ghirahim is the best Zelda villain ever so far. The fights with him are so much more intense than the usual giant monsters for some reason.

[SPOILER:7bbbf8ba3b]Hey, normally I hate spoilers, but I just wanted to ask you all, what the hell has happened to Kukiel? Did Ghirahim go pedophile on us and kidnap her?[/SPOILER:7bbbf8ba3b]

I just beat the game this morning. I gotta say overall, it's a very middle-of-the-road Zelda game. The reviews for this game were way over hyping it. There's really not all that much to do and the stuff they put in to make you keep going back to the same 3 places really feel like filler. I'm not even going to go in depth on the motion controls because why bother? It's the Wii, you already know it doesn't work as advertised. Maybe I'll flesh out my review in the future because there were some good points to the game too. In the end, for a Zelda game, it's kind of weak, kind of tired, and kind of dull.

Sideway I'll agree with you on the running back and forth.
Quite honestly I was expecting like dungeons and stuff in the clouds, as well as dungeons on the surface and all the areas on the surface being connected rather than flying to three different places.
On the note of flying, it's kind of hard to get a good measure of distance while riding a loftwing.
Also, the cloud area didn't need to be spaced so far apart, that was annoying.
Ghirahim = awesome, 'nuff said.
I will go into motion controls though :p
Quite honestly, they tried to make it more precise than the average player is. Stuff like the lizards are hard to keep up with when they move that fast and require precise movements. I found a couple of the boss fights easier to deal with than I did certain enemies.
Also Ky-guy that's part of a sidequest. And no, It's not Ghirahim
I talked to a friend that's beaten it and I am close. So maybe my opinion will change a bit once I beat it

For those of you who beat it, what is your total play time?

My total playtime was 53 hours, I was really cramming to finish it during the days I had off for Thanksgiving. I did spend a good amount of that time on sidequests.

You know when you're climbing some vines and the game says you can leap via some motion control black magic? Cannot do it. Unless one of you can initiate me into the hidden mysteries of leaping while on vines, I will never make it past this silent realm challenge, because it is required.

Uh... take your Wii remote and flick it in a direction... you will leap in that direction. If you can't do it, you should get a new Wii Remote... or wrist.

I'm the only one around here who thinks the same thing. Everyone else here likened it to autotuning for some reason.

Thought you guys might want to know about a major bug to avoid. It doesn't look like you risk massive spoilers by reading this.

So, there's a glitch that if it occurs, (involving collecting the Song of Heroes so this is Sixth temple stuff here), stops you from beating the main game. How to avoid it is covered here:
[SPOILER:7f65af5105]We have been made aware of the issue that results in being unable to progress in the Song of the Hero quest. If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.
The situation is caused by performing the following sequence of events during the Song of the Hero quest:
1. At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.
2. In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.
3. Complete the Thunder Dragon's event, and receive his song.
4. Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.
5. At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue.
Solutions:
• This issue WILL NOT OCCUR if the Fire and Water Dragon songs have already been collected before collecting the Thunder Dragon's song. Talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves will also NOT trigger this issue.
• If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.
I wish I had a better answer, but I'm afraid there currently is no other fix available. I can assure, however, that we are documenting all feedback we receive on this issue. Thank you for your patience and support.
Sincerely,
Sharon Matheny [/SPOILER:7f65af5105]
I don't usually sequence break with Zelda games so it shouldn't affect me.

My very first game ruining bug came from another Zelda game. In Link's Awakening, I used a key on the wrong place in the water temple which prevented me from ever obtaining another key so I could get to the place I needed to go in first. I was pretty pissed.

I did that in Zelda 2, used a key from the fourth temple in the fifth one, so I had to start over again.
