Man, I'm not shelling out another forty bucks for a game that I bought for sixty, when they just add new characters that people didn't really want... Sure they got Strider and Frank, but no one else that really matters!

Yea, really. ESPECIALLY at this point. They should just try to please the folks (like me) that were sad there classic favorites were not included in the original release.

I am stoked kinda on Hawkeye though, I had been asking for him essentially from the beginning of all this.

I am also going to kill Capcom if we still get no Mega Man...at all. I mean they are going to give us THREE Devil May Cry characters but not give us Megaman? WTF?!

I expected more DLC but not a full on new disc release, it hasn't happened for any of the Vs. games in the past.

Didn't they only release four characters via DLC? It seems they could make more money on that front by charging the same amount (five bucks a pop) for each of those "new" characters then release a new game.

And on Strider, he may have been in the last couple, but with the change in gameplay, he's not going to be the same as he was in MvC2 so I qualify him as a new player...

They only released TWO characters via DLC: Shuma and Jill. Data for Frank West and Dr. Octopus exists on the disc, but they were never released.

Hawkeye is unsurprising, since Taskmaster has one of his moves.

If they're adding all new characters, I would have liked Silver Surfer, since he was originally planned for the game. And you know why he was excluded? BECAUSE HE LOOKS TOO MUCH LIKE ICE MAN. And you know, that's a huge deal, since Ice Man is in the game and all. I mean, how the fuck can you not include Silver Surfer? He's the herald of Galactus, the end boss. I would rather have him as the sub boss than that lame battle against silver versions of other characters.

This game is certainly no surprise coming from Capcom, although they threw me off guard since they've never really done anything with the MvC series other than re-elease the older ones on different platforms. Of course it kinda pisses me off (as well as many others I'm sure) that they couldn't just do bi-monthly DLC's until the game ran it's course. But I'll probably submit to buying it since they've been doing this since Street Fighter II. : p

I can also see why they chose such characters as the likes of Hawkeye. I bet it was a marketing idea, since The Avengers movie comes out and next year and everyone in that movie is already in the game. As for others, I suppose it's random fan demand(?). Who knows. (Although happy to see Firebrand, he might be cool.)

Capcom has also said Mega Man Legends 3 isn't happening. Since Inafune quit, it seems like they want to bury the character. Sad

Capcom also announced a new Darkstalkers yesterday. Meh. Darkstalkers was only fun when I was playing it for free on MAME. Besides, I'll wait the extra two years for Super Darkstalkers: Arcade Edition.

Personally, I think all of this disillusionment is good for gaming in general, if not at the moment. Hopefully enough of it will teach gamers to wake up and realize that businesses don't care for them as much as they think they do. I hear a lot of gamers saying they won't support companies that make bad decisions, yet said companies still get enough sales to render those sentiments meaningless. There needs to be an event horizon for those gamers who really aren't getting what they want that, once crossed, will finally send the businessmen who make important decisions the message.

That's a slippery slope. The gamers who want constant repeats of the old products they love are getting just that: updated re-makes with better graphics. Why not demand something new from what they love? Take their old properties, and give them new energy, something they're not expecting that blows them away? It worked for Metroid Prime and (arguably) Fallout 3. Sure there are mis-steps, but I rather developers/publishers take a chance rather than just release the same thing over and over.
