Weird. Wal-Mart's the #1 in the country. Wonder why they cut out the retailer that refuses to sell used games.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

It's confirmed! Next year, Wii players throughout North America can wield the Monado blade and join the epic battle between the Homs and the Mechons in Xenoblade Chronicles.

And a page for the game on its site:

Fuck.

I still don't get why you're so against NA getting another good game for the Wii. Scratch that, another GOOD RPG. Nintendo just extended the lifespan of my Wii after I eventually finish Skyward Sword.

I have to admit, I'm most curious as well, can you sum up why you're so against the US getting this game, or Pandora's Tower or The Last Story?

While The Last Story is STILL going to be released in North America on June 19 for the Wii. The bad news? The game’s publisher, XSEED, has announced that the game will have a limited run once it launches stateside. In addition, the publisher is unsure about releasing a special edition version that was available in Europe and Japan.

XSEED also issued a statement regarding their decision to have a cap on how many copies will be available for the well-received JRPG.

“…we do anticipate a limited run for the game as we already have a number in mind of how many units we can expect to sell of this title, and all our pre-production efforts will be geared towards being able to manufacture a final number somewhat close to our initial estimated number. It’s too early to start thinking of doing additional runs, but as a general policy we haven’t been very active on doing reprints of our other titles so far.”

Sucks, but I may have to bite the bullet and preorder this.

Might have to hoard as many copies as I can and resell them later.

Considering how well JRPGs retain their value, I'd say so.

How long do you think this run will go on for? I won't be able to buy it for some time after it releases...

A publisher's job is to make themselves money, not make you money. So if people buy up all the copies of the game right away with the intent of hoarding them, a second print run will almost definitely happen.

Relax, I wanna get one for myself, and maybe one extra at max to hold onto to see what happens, that isn't really hoarding.

Well, two of you had suggested buying multiple copies. I'm just saying, if 1/3 of all buyers did this, you're going to screw yourselves over.

I think the more important issue though is that it does sell. If it does, Xseed might bring over Pandora's Tower too.

Yea, Pandora's Tower only looked so-so compared to this and Xenoblade.

Still, i'd take it.

I'm betting that this will be one of those situations where it won't get printed in large numbers and it'll be a cult classic. Especially considering that this is near the end of the Wii's life. It'll be like Earthbound or half the RPGs on PS1 and go for about a hundred bucks on ebay.

This game is getting hyped up so much I can't wait to get my hands on it...so I can hate on it.

Annoying that it can't be rented. Max Payne 3 is this month! That's where it's at.

As I live in Europe, I already have both Xenoblade and The Last Story, and in my opinion they are among the best rpgs I have ever played and well worht your time. They will definitely retain a lot of their value just like games like FF3 on the snes, simply because they are os such an high quality. However, it is probably true that there will be another print run fast if they get sold out, so I donæt think you will be able to profit on them for quite some time. Pandora's Tower looks pretty shitty though.

Speaking of Pandora's Tower, first here's an English language trailer for the EU release:

And now, roughly a full hour's worth of gameplay:

I finished Xenoblade the other day, it deserves the praise it gets. Here's a bunch of text.

The zones are massive, climbing to a high area and getting a good look at all the spots you can actually walk to gives a nice idea of what you're in for. There's a day and night cycle which you can control or let the game handle (1 minute = 1 hour). The time does play a part as each NPC has a schedule they run and tougher monster come out at night.

The combat is pretty good, it's real time and uses cool-down based abilities, think MMOs without MP. There's no healing items so HP is restored using abilities or regenerates outside of battle. During a fight, you have to watch your placement near the enemy since some attacks have bonus effects if used on their side or behind. As you fight, a blue bar at the top of the screen fills up and when it's full, you can use a chain attack to rack up combo damage.

At times there will be a pause in battle and you'll be shown a glimpse of the future, in this case, the monster's next attack. You then have anywhere from 6-16 seconds to change it by canceling it out, dumping aggro to another character or killing it. You can warn another party member during this time and use one of their abilities to improve the chances of surviving at the cost of a third of your chain attack bar. If the attack goes through, it'll most likely kill the target at early levels and dead characters can't be revived until the battle ends or you have at least a third of the chain bar full to use.

Characters are fairly customizable you can make all but two of them into a tank or fill other roles like healing, DPS or pure damage. One of the first characters you meet is a medic but she's also a sniper. At first you'll want her healing but once everyone gets better stats, gear and healing abilities of their own, you have the option of turning her into a long range damage class.

They each have three skill trees to learn with two bonus ones later on. Characters can use coins to select skills from the trees of others if they have a high enough affinity with them. Affinity is raised by just using characters, as they spend more time together, they start to like each other more. This gives bonuses in battle as friendly characters will react more if their buddy is in trouble allowing your chain bar to fill up quicker. There's also an increase in banter during fights, it adds nothing but it's a nice touch.

The A.I. is surprisingly decent, it controls the other two party members during battles. When it comes to tanking and healing, it's best to let the computer handle it cause it does a really good job. DPS, on the other hand, is its weak point, it'll take characters with high damage potential and waste them by using support abilities. You can give it one of three commands and it follows them well enough but sometimes it'll keep attacking when I told it to stop or get characters stuck on a piece of scenery. Thankfully, you're not chained to the main character so you can figure out what abilities to assign to everyone's action bar which greatly helps the A.I. in the long run.

The story's good, I'll leave it at that, the main character is a bit of a dork but it works to his favor. The actual plot plays out pretty fast but there are tons of side quests to do that will eat up a lot of time. I was well past the 30 hour mark before I was even half way through from doing side quests and exploring. Overall, I was happy with it, the ending even managed to be satisfying which is rare these days.

One things for sure, use a classic controller, I picked one up after the first day, it definitely makes a difference.

It seems that The Last Story has been out in the states for about a week now, I just saw it at Gamestop. Anyone play it yet? I was tempted to pick it up but I just don't know if I care all that much to devote the time to it.
