I've never even owned a TV, but recently with the internet I've been able to catch up on all the shows I've been missing, mostly on recommendations from friends. Here are my top 5 series, and having watched them to death I'm looking for more. ITT, what are your opinions on these, or what are your own favs?
1. Arrested Development
2. Trailer Park Boys
3. Mr. Show (unfair!)
4. The Sarah Silverman Program
5. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Fresh Prince (of course), Seinfeld, Full House, My Wife and Kids, and The Wayans Bros. and some others I can't think of now are some of the best sitcoms to me.

I haven't seen Arrested Development yet, but I've only read good things about it, so it's definitely something I want to check out. I also want to check out Sarah Silverman if you know what I mean.
Here's my personal Top 5 in alphabetical order:
- Friends
- Mad About You
- Roseanne
- Seinfeld
- The Cosby Show
Honorable mention: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I don't know if I have a definitive top 5. But I imagine it would be similar to this:
Seinfeld
Cheers
All in the Family
Sanford and Son
and...
and... (narrowing it down is hard)
...hey, wait. My all time favorite show ever is a sitcom...
Saved by the Bell!
But then of course, if I did narrow it down to a top 5, my honorable mentions would have to look something like this:
Honorable Mentions: Three's Company, The Cosby Show, M*A*S*H, The Jeffersons, Fresh Prince, Home Improvement, Frazier, Married with Children, Diff'rent Strokes, Family Ties, Perfect Strangers, Taxi, Mork and Mindy, Welcome Back Kotter, ALF, Charles in Charge, Happy Days, Good Times, Newhart, King of Queens, Coach, Wings, WKRP in Cincinnati, Mad About You, Head of the Class, My Two Dads...
I think you get the point. I'm obsessed with TV.

Unhappily Ever After and King of Queens, also that show with Mike O'Malley (SP?) is usually pretty funny.
Edit: Yes, Dear!

Andy Richter Controls the Universe is a highly under appreciated sitcom.

Yes, Dear is good. Anthony Clark's character (Greg) kills me. I also think Still Standing is damn funny.

The Steve Harvey Show was pretty funny at times too. And you definitely can't forget Home Improvement.

I was watching the live action The Tick today and I think I'm finally over how bad Captain Liberty and Batmanuel are. It's still damn funny.
Plus, Batmanuel now has Richard Alpert points.

The Saved By The Bell theme song is still stuck in my head.
I love Two and a Half Men.

Fox has had some great sitcoms so far this century that never got a fair shake... ARCtU and Greg The Bunny immediately come to mind. And I'm sure I'll take shit for this, but I really liked Grounded For Life as well.

I just watch Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert.
Here is something interesting I just found out about a month ago that Scrubs is/was a comedy.
No this is not a fucking joke.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

Scrubs is too cartoony for me. However, I still need to see the finale; it looked incredible.

Malcom in the Middle is watchable. Too bad they didn't go with the original name concept of Mom in the Middle, they thought it sounded dirty.

I love Fox sitcoms. I just hate the fact that hardly any of them are around for any considerable length of time. Syd, I'm pretty sure you were the one that brought up Back to You on the cancelled show thread. But even though a lot of their sitcoms are short lived, I can't really remember seeing one I really didn't like. However, there were some that I liked that I knew would be cancelled. Life on a Stick would be a good example of that. But then again, I'm probably easily entertained.
I also liked Grounded for Life. I liked War at Home too. I like family sitcoms for the most part.

Herman's Head, Get a Life, Doctor Doctor, Married with Children, Working (Gotta love Fred Savage), Unhappily Ever After, Perfect Strangers, God the Devil and Bob (if you haven't seen it, you have to), Gary & Mike, 227, and almost every Norman Lear show (ie All in the Family, The Jeffersons etc.) aside from Archie's Place and maybe Maude.
