OK, I have figured out what I'm going to do. There will be two contests. You can participate in one or the other, or both.

Contest #1: Show off your Creativity

If you remember Lottel's Contestorama from last year, then you basically know what this is all about. Create something that has to do with this site in some way. It can be a picture, a song, a story, whatever you want. We will have judges who will score all the entries, and the one with the best compiled score will win the game. You do not have to sign up for this. You can just send something in. You can do this by either posting it in this thread, PMming it to me, or emailing it to me at kewlresol2@yahoo.com.

Judges are Syd Lexia, Captain_Pollution, Sehkmaenzo, joshwoodzy, Douche McCallister, and myself.

The deadline for this contest is Saturday, June 11th at midnight Pacific time. I will not accept late entries.

Contest #2: Trivia Duels

To win this contest, you'll need to beat others in a trivia contest. All of the questions will have to do with SydLexia.com. I'm going to go over the rules, and hopefully they don't sound too convoluted. It really is a simple set-up, but let me know if you have any questions.

I will present the competitors with a multiple choice question (4 answers given to choose from). Each player has 10 "guesses" to use. After seeing the question, they can play 1-4 guesses for that question. If they guess the correct answer, they get that guess back, but lose any others that they may have used on other answers.

For example, if the question was "Which of the following is a color? A) red B) dog C) cat D) elephant" you would place a "guess" on A. You would be correct and get it back, and maintaining your current level of guesses. Or, if you were retarded and weren't sure, you could cover multiple questions. If you wanted to be safe and cover all four, you'd ensure that you advance, but you'd also lose 3 of your 10 guesses.

If you miss one question, you're out. Eventually, you may wind up with only one guess remaining, so you'd have to keep getting the questions correct to continue. If both people got the same question wrong, they'd have all but one guess taken from them and continue playing until one person gets a question right, and the other gets it wrong.

After I display the question, I'll set a timer in the chatroom for 30 seconds. Players would then have that time to make their guesses. When the time comes to actually play, I'll explain that in more detail.

Whoever outlasts their opponents, wins and advances. We keep going until only one person remains. This is a contest that could be completed in one chat session, but it also may take a couple of days to complete based on schedules. Obviously, if you're interested in the trivia contest, you're going to have to make yourself available for the chat. I reserve the right to boot anyone from the contest who goes MIA.

This contest does require sign-ups for scheduling purposes. Once I get a set number of entrants, I'll randomize a bracket and go from there. The contest will take place in the #sydlexia chatroom (link in my sig), or we may move to another chatroom to filter out unnecessary chat. I will probably post logs of each contest in here.

The deadline to enter the Trivia Contest is Friday, June 3, and I'd like to complete it ASAP so that someone can get this game quickly.

From May 30th:

I acquired a couple new, never-been-opened SSF IV for the 3DS. But, I already own it. Don't worry, they weren't stolen. I won them at a party.

So, I figured it would be fun to give them away to anyone who has a 3DS but doesn't own the game yet. However, I want to make some sort of fun competition out of this. I can't think of anything that great yet.

I'm asking for a couple things. One, some suggestions for contests. I sometimes run "game shows" in the IRC for points, so maybe I could adapt something in there with the winner getting a copy. It would be trivia about the forums and anything that has to do with this site.

The second thing I need is a list of people who would be interested in getting one of these. You'd obviously have to PM your address to me, so if you don't want to give that away, don't enter. I know a lot of people who own a 3DS already have this game, but if you don't here's an opportunity to get one for free.

If I only get two people to sign up, I guess I'll just give it to them.

So again: 1) Contest ideas (is a trivia-type game show a good idea?) and 2) Post if you're interested.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I do think a trivia contest for one of them would be fun, but I also don't want to disadvantage newer members so for the other copy I'll do something different.

Also, just because someone doesn't live in the US, I'm not going to automatically exclude them from winning. I'm willing to pay shipping as long as it's not too crazy. It won't be a big, heavy package. I'll do some research and get an estimate on the cost for shipping.

As far as trivia goes, I know what kind of contest I'm going to do. If anyone remembers that game show Duel that was on a few years ago, it'll be that kind of set up. All of the questions will have to do with this site. I'll go into more detail after I've fleshed them out and tested it a little. That should all be worked out in the next couple of days.

I still need an idea for some sort of creative contest though. People can enter both, by the way.

Also, I included a list in the OP with names of people who have expressed interest. If you do not see your name, let me know. Or, if you see your name and you're not interested, let me know that too.

Yes, because the questions have to be delivered in real time. Once we figure out who you'll duel against first, we'll work out a time for both of you to be in the IRC at the same time.

Eh, a lot of it won't be super obscure stuff. I'll ask about previous Forum Battles, different events that happened, stuff like that. Some will be harder as the contest goes on, but again it's multiple choice so you'd probably do well.
