http://helpnathanbuyfirefly.com/

Has anyone else heard about this movement? Apparently Nathan Fillion made the error of expressing a wish to buy the rights to Firefly himself and distribute new episodes. This of course awakened the beast that is Firefly's fans and this website was started to raise money to try and get Nathan the money he needs. I know it has basically zero chance of working but I certainly would donate at least 50 bucks. At the very least I hope this will show someone at Fox that they still have the potential to make money off of this property and perhaps it can indirectly bring new life to the long dead show.

If you haven't seen it, then watch it. Its basically about some space smugglers. It is sometimes overhyped as the greatest thing ever, but even if its not quite that good it is still awesome and worth watching.

Space smuggling?

Should have named it something better... like:

"A Scoundrel's Guide - By Han Solo"

I'd watch that. Actually, that would probably be a good show. Why didn't anyone make it?

Fool it is named Firefly cause that is the ship class that they use. Its like a space western really.

Han solo actually makes appearances in like all the episodes. If you look closely you can usually spot a tiny replica of him frozen in carbonite in the background.

I feel like someone is playing a joke on me. If any people would know about Firefly I figured it would be the good people on Sydlexia forums.

The show had 14 episodes (including a double length premiere episode) before it was canceled. It ended up having such a cult following though that fans rallied and there was also a movie made named Serenity.

It's a pretty good show in its own right, but yes women of that age bracket are obsessed with it. It's some kind of voodoo combination of Joss Whedon writing and Nathan Fillion. I had an ex once that said she would be forced to cheat on me if Nathan Fillion propositioned her, plus she kept saying that I looked like him. Needless to say, the relationship didn't go the distance.

I too find it strange more people on these forums haven't seen Firefly. I finally watched it last year to see what all the hub bub was about and it was a very well made, well written, great show. I recommend everyone to check it out; you won't be sorry.

Although after you do finish the series, you will get angry that it was canceled.

I am not saying it is a bad show. I am saying that books get judged by their covers. If you name a show with a weak title, it will thought of as such. In this case, the first thing I think of when someone says "Firefly", is a romantic girly story.

Yeah, and the movie is called "Serenity". They should have just used "Serenity Firefly" and made the show just like the Golden Girls.

But in space.

What is up with the sissy names?

It sounds like they would have called it Serendipity if it weren't already a movie title. I'll be honest though, if Kate Beckinsale were in it... I might be more forgiving of what they call it... as long as she wears the Underworld costume.

Serenity is the actual name of the ship. And of course the title doesn't make any sense just hearing it now, but I remember them advertising it like crazy on fox so it would have been pretty difficult to not know what it was actually about back when it first aired.

If anyone is interested in watching it and has Netflix I know you can stream all the episodes on there.

You need to meet a little someone called Jewel Staite:

And seriously guys, writing off a great TV show because you think its title is "sissy" is probably the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Do yourself a favor and check it out, I promise you'll enjoy it.

LOL, I was making fun of the name for sure but I really enjoyed "Serenity". It was fast moving, fun to watch and I had no complaints about it. The show seemed a little slow in comparison if I remember right, but I'm gonna go ahead and add the whole series to my Netflix queue and give them another shot.

I am writing it off now because it literally only existed for one more episode than Kitchen Confidential and I already watch enough TV. Not because of the name. However, I am positive that without hearing reviews while it was on the air and only knowing the name, there is no way I would have checked it out when it was current.

I would think that if a show had such a short run and like 8 years later still had serious fan movements to bring it back that would only serve as proof that what few episodes it has are worth watching. I mean 80,000 people are willing to pledge money on a 1 in a billion chance it will be brought back, and that is after only a week. I think that is pretty impressive for a show that was canceled after only 11 episodes aired.

So what happens to all that money if the show doesn't come back? Sounds like a scam.

Its just pledges right now. It's my understanding that they wont take any actual money unless they hear word from someone that is in a position to actually do something with it. I doesn't have a scam feel to it, but that could just mean it is a good scam.

So we can put up imaginary money to get Fox to put awesome tv shows back on the air? In that case I pledge $10,000,000 to The Critic with another $10,000,000 to Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

Speaking of Jewel Staite, does anyone remember Flash Forward? Pretty good 90s teen comedy on ABC/Disney Channel with her and Ben Foster, only lasted one season I think. Unfortunate, as I remember it being pretty good.

I actually met Jewel Straite at a convention and she is just as sweet in real life. She also had some hilarious tales of what she and Alan Tudyk got up to while drunk.

When it came time for questions one guy asked "Will you marry me?"
