I can get Earthworm Jim on my SNES, Genesis, or PC. And that's not even counting emulation. Unless they're doing something special with the release, I could care less.

Well from what I've read it's a remake of the first one so I would imagine their wold be upgrades from the original product.

I'm pretty excited for the Earthworm Jim remake, if it gets handled like the Bionic Commando remake did, I'll be happy

i wonder if they'll add the stuff they added to the sega cd version of earthworm jim. not that they added much, but it would still be cool. i own the genesis version on the VC and i must say, that game still holds up well.

Honestly, Earthworm Jim looks awesome, and is a solid platforming shooter, but it never got me really mega interested.
My friends were all way into in though. I've played through most of the first, just, I dunno, nothing really hooked me (pun intended?).
ESRB Rates 'Data East Arcade Classics' For The Wii
Looks like President Ronnie and the Bad Dudes are about to make a retro comeback via the Nintendo Wii. The ESRB has rated Data East Arcade Classics, bringing with it Bad Dudes and a number of other titles.
In addition to the aforementioned Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja, it looks like fans can expect Burger Time, Caveman Ninja, Street Slam, Secret Agent, Magical Drop III and "many others." With luck that "many others" includes Heavy Barrel, at the very least.
The ESRB rating promises characters who "occasionally use knives, guns, throwing stars, or grenades in the 2D-style combat. A few games depict brief splashes of blood when enemies get hit; one game depicts a shark that emits red blood when it gets harpooned."
Sounds like good times will be had by all. We'll let you know when Majesco formally announces Data East Arcade Classics.

Contra Rebirth Due Next Week
If you've been longing for the chance to play Contra Rebirth, you won't have to be longing for much longer. Konami has announced that the WiiWare title will be available in North America on September 7.
Like Gradius Rebirth, Contra Rebirth offers an homage to the popular run-and-gun series starring Bill Rizer, Lance Bean and the rest. It pits the Contra forces against Chief Salamander his army, with samurai Genbei Yagyu joining in to help the good guys.
We played the Japanese version when it hit back in May, saying that it "nails the feel of the series' early years." We also made a few videos, one of which you can see above.
Look for Contra Rebirth on Monday for 1000 Wii Points ($10).

Sonic Returns In New 2D, HD Game
"Old-school Sonic fans have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay" says Sega of America's Ken Balough. "Many liked the daytime stages in Unleashed, but wanted to see a game that plays purely similar to the early games of the Genesis. Project Needlemouse is that critical first step that brings Sonic back to his 2D roots."
old game already released but for those that didnt know:

Lode Runner Gets Discounted on Xbox Live Arcade
If you thought 15 bucks was a tad steep for Lode Runner on Xbox Live Arcade, now might be a good time to reconsider developer Tozai's remake of the classic platformer. Microsoft announced today that, as part of their continuing "Deal of the Week" program, Lode Runner will be going for 33 percent off -- a much more modest asking price of $10 (800 Microsoft points) rather than $15.
As always, this bargain won't last for too long. Lode Runner will return to its normal price next Monday, September 21, so if you're interested, try not to dawdle.

Heh, that's a bit ironic. They had to remove EWJ from the Genesis Poll because of the upcoming EWJ game they've announced. It was ahead in the poll at the time.
Anyway, I'd honestly say that TJ&E is the better pick for a 360/PS3 downloadable release. After all, they're probably including online co-op.

Interplay Announces ClayFighter Remake
Remakes of Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Bionic Commando have been extremely welcome, but ClayFighter? Yes, it seems that Interplay is intent on reviving their old properties, and that includes the quirky 16-bit fighter.
Gamerbytes is reporting that StudioBlack Games will be handing the development, which includes original game's programmer Eric Hart. They're a relatively new studio based in Phoenix, with their previous effort being a Crayola game for the Wii.
ClayFighter was originally developed to capitalize on the fighting game boom of the early 1990s, with its distinguishing feature being its claymation-like graphics. It's currently available on the Virtual Console.
Unlike Earthworm Jim, ClayFighter will not be getting an HD remix. Instead, the remake will be available on WiiWare and DSiWare.
It's currently slated for Summer 2010.
Nintendo Announces Excitebike: World Rally for WiiWare
Nintendo used its dedicated Wii channel to its potential today, unveiling a new sequel to a classic and beloved franchise. The announcement trailer (above) is for Excitebike: World Rally; surprisingly, the game is already set for release on November 9. A short video shows off its 2.5D look, and the announcers also stated it will include a track editor and optional motion controls. The announcement also came with a nice treat for Excitebike fans, in that the game will include online multiplayer support, most likely in a similar fashion to Mario Kart Wii.
More details are said to be forthcoming, but given that it's going to release in a few weeks, we don't have long to wait to find out more for ourselves. Check out the trailer above and let us know what you think of the new look.
I don't hold any hope for Sonic, because they've promised the same things as before. In fact the 3D Sonic wasn't the problem, I mean Sonic Adventure was great.
The problem was how they tweaked Sonic and made shit too gimmicky. First they add an assload of shitty characters among other things, then that Werewolf nonsense that had no business being in a Sonic game. You could very well make a Sonic game in the same fashion as say Crash Bandicoot on acid. Seriously, the only people who need to be in this new game are; Sonic, Tails, Robotnik, and Knuckles, and the little animals that come out every time you kill a robot. Fuck Shadow...fuck him in the ear.

Ah yes, that was a disaster when I rented it. I knew I was in trouble when I couldn't beat Helga, the first person you fight. I too, have also not played 63 1/3.

Seems like a cool idea, I never knew why Excite Bike had such a cult following, I mean it was decent but not anything special. I never played Excite Truck for Wii, is that decent at all?
