There was already a sequel to "A Christmas Story" called "My Summer Story".
And yes, it sucked ass pennies.

My Summer Story (or It Runs In The Family as it was originally titled) was at least narrated/endorsed by Jean Shepherd. This, on the other hand, is graverobbing.
But for a related project that was actually good, see The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters, an episode of American Playhouse based on the works of Jean Shepherd that actually predates A Christmas Story.

I'm not a big fan of the original movie (though I've seen it a few dozen times, like everyone) but I must say remaking this doesn't make any sense. The original had a certain charm to it and was perfectly cast. This just looks like a soulless, terribly cast/written grab at something... I would say money but I'm not sure how they expect to get that.
