So far ive played FF4 and 6 and i must say i like 6 alot better. Im probably only 40 minutes into 6 and im not trying to judge 4 but the graphics and look of the game are so much better and i think thats a factor for me. I have not tried Super Mario RPG yet but i will tonight so will see

I'm glad Super Mario RPG was mentioned. It was my first RPG and I will never tire of it.
Great looking, fun game.

Relax, I am just joking with you. However, I do disagree with your opinion, and I am glad that he decided to give FFVI a fair chance for himself.

I'm going to agree on Super Mario RPG, and also add Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga on the GBA.
Edit: I would also add Earthbound, but it's too damn expensive. It's one of the few games I know where the Japanese version is cheaper. I might have to learn Japanese for that one.

If it comes to that, here's a tidbit to get you started: If a word has three or more syllables, the accent goes on the third-to-last one, not the second-to-last.

When I was a RPG rook, the games that got me into RPGs are Wild Arms (1 and 2), Super Mario RPG and Earthbound (and later, the English translation of Mother 3). Every game mentioned has great gameplay, interesting stories, and hummable/whistlable music.
I also love the entire "Mario and Luigi" series. I tried going through some of the Final Fantasies (7 through 10), but every time, I lost interest about 1/3 of the way through. Maybe I just don't have the attention span for it...I'm doomed to enjoy less "RPGish" RPGs, I guess.

I've got a relatively good copy I'd give up for $50.00, but it's only the cartridge. Only real problem is a small tear on the top of the label. I'd like to buy a complete copy and money really isn't an issue anymore to me.

The DS ones (Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story) are awesome too so make sure to check them out. Partners in Time sepcifically is the most fun I've ever had with a video game.

Damn I've never played Earthbound, Lufia 2, or Super Mario Rpg. I'm such a douche, I'll have to get on that.

Great! I have wanted this game for years since it never was released in Europe in the first place, one of the few games on the sydlexia top 100 snes games list I don't own and have never played.

nice intro. the characters look badass.
you wrote once that you got a ps2. Try Breath of Fire 5 if you can get your hands on it. It's one of my favorite RPG's and a secret videogame gem on the ps2.

Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy IX are both great games to get started on.

I second the Summon Night series for GBA. The games are pretty cool.
