On April 20th, 2010, Ratt released a new album featuring 3 of the 5 members from the band's classic 80's line-up: Stephen Pearcy, Bobby Blotzer, and Warren DeMartini. Of the other two members from this line-up, Robbin Crosby died fro and Juan Croucier is still pissed at Bobby and Stephen over the way things ended in 1992.

This is Ratt's first studio album in 11 years, and since their 1999 s/t album was such a departure, this could be considered their first studio album since 1990's Detonator.

And it's completely awesome.

This is classic fucking Ratt. It sounds exactly like the Ratt of yesteryear, to the point where if you were to take a casual listener, and play a random assortment of tracks from Infestation shuffled in with tracks from Out Of The Cellar, Invasion Of Your Privacy, Dancing Undercover, Reach For The Sky, and Detonator, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

It is fantastic.

I saw solo Pearcy here in Vegas about a month ago. I'm not a fan at all but it was a good show. He was really into it, mixing it up with the crowd. Good times.

That's cool. Metal Sludge usually shits on Pearcy's live performances, so it's nice to hear that he actually can put on a good show.

I'm not gonna pretend I haven't kept all of my Ratt cassette tapes. That shit just never gets old, and I'm stoked to hear the new one.

I was never a huge Ratt fan. They were big while I was a kid, but never really of any interest to me. Even with a few popular tunes I still think they were one of the most overrated 80's metal bands.

So question Syd- I just realized that Carlos Cavazo played on the album (out of the loop much?). How's the guitar work? Do DeMartini and Cavazo play well together?

Yes, very much so. I would definitely recommend giving the album a listen.

K, I'll pick it up on payday. I saw it at CDPlus and was intrigued.

Bought it on Friday, listened to it last night. It's fucking AWESOME. It is the album, along with Saints of Los Angeles, that all these reuniting hair metal have wanted to make these past few years. Fantastic.
