I see Metal Church, Testament, The Cult, and most of all UFO in your list. That alone makes me wanna check out the more obscure ones up there.
I'd add King Diamond, and I'm gonna go ahead and put Iron Maiden up there too. Sells out shows in other countries, still making quality albums, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Flight of Icarus, The Trooper, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son immediately come to mind as fantastic songs. The most common responce to my mentioning of Iron Maiden? "Those guys who did run to the hills?". COME ON PEOPLE.
David Bowie is not underrated. I think he's the opposite, but nevertheless the mainstream know about him well enough that strangers can rattle off 2-3 of his songs, and TV commercials license his stuff for hawking cars. Some people think he's good, others think he's fantastic, I think he blows fat chunks.
